Many Danes on their shopping trips, saw a lot of campervans and I think especially in summer many Germans going on holiday to Scandinavia. The car wash station here gave me an energy drink. Got offered a ride to Vejle. Asking at the shopping mall parking lot would probably be faster but if you don't feel social this works.

Got a lift to Scandipark by the highway where many Danes shop. The spot seemed okay, easy to stop, but very urban. It's an actual hitchhikers bench! The idea of it got me very excited. Pedestrians will definitely look at you confused for actually using it. The bench has an option for putting up a sign with the direction you want to go, which is funny but I think it's broken. Anyway, if no people to Denmark pick you up, Scandipark is a very good second option :)

Stood with a sign here, easier than walking around the massive area talking to people, it will be tiring and you are gonna miss many cars. Lots of activity even after 9pm. No space to pull over here really but the road is slow so stopping briefly is no problem.

It was a quiet evening, not a lot of cars, but still got a lift quickly. There was road works, and no space to pull over, but because of the road works and low traffic a car stopped anyway so i just jumped in.

Great place to wait, just watch out for the trucks that sometimes use the dirt lane to turn (where you are probably standing). This highway ramp was opened in 2020 so disregard comments from before then

A guy and a girl on a Monday evening with an arrow sign to get in the direction of Kiel and Hamburg. This is not the best spot, but I think it's bad enough for people to help you if you get here. We got a ride to Schuby (west of Schlewig) quickly.

A guy and a girl on a Monday afternoon with a "HH" sign (for Hamburg). This spot must be quite good to go further south as there is a lot of traffic, not just local. Despite all this, the only car that stopped quickly only got us to the motorway entrance, further east...

A guy and a girl on a Monday afternoon without a sign. This spot is good in theory : cars don't go that fast and there is place for them at the bus stop. We got a ride to Fleisberg after waiting quite a while.
Our driver seemed to be worried about our paper situation, so maybe people are scared of other people crossing the border here...
