Two guys hitchhiking to München. The license plates mostly belong to locals, but be patient and you’ll be picked up. The locals are friendly. They often wave and smile back even if they won’t pick you up.We stood by the on-ramp. It’s not a perfect place for drivers to pull in, but it’s possible and cars behind can still manage to pass.

Two guys hitchhiking to München. We got a lift to Regensburg (north of München). We were picked up after a while by a nice lady heading to Austria. We stood by the on-ramp to the autobahn. It’s not a perfect place for the drivers to pick you up, as they can easily block traffic, but if there’s a will there’s a way.―Ledan

It had already gotten dark, but luckily an Indian couple who were heading north and not a big detour through Amberg took me there. But it was a funny moment when they thought I might be doing something illegal and asked whether I have a valid visa and documents to be in this country. 😃―Anonymous

I messed it up with the previous ride lol so this one was the cool techno guy who didn’t mind taking a bit of a different highway so I could get here. But the previous ride was with a woman who has hitchhiked herself and took me to the next gas station as it was way better there. :)―Anonymous

Going to Munich worked. You can stand quite visible but the space for cars to stop is not very big, just the sidewalk and some green. Many cars did have local number plates (on a Monday around 15.00).―Luc

pentling is a big resting station with a lot of traffic coming through towards the north (maybe the traffic to the south is always stopping here) you can take a bus to "Hohengebraching" from the central station (should take you about 15min) and then you have to walk for 10min til you are there. very easy to find a ride―Anonymous

You can get here by BUS n.10 (get out in the Cranachweg/Kowe station, price 2.30E) Theres place where a car can stop and when red come on lights, safely can return back on slip road. Stay near sidewalk cos cars coming from both sides so you can better show your paper-signs.―Anonymous

waited around 15 minutes by thumbeling and without any sign and got a lift directly to Munich. Pretty good spot, cars do not come so fast and can stop easily at subways restaurant.―Anonymous

Great spot for short distances and small towns like Bad Abbach; terrible for longer distances or the autobahn.People are super friendly and many cars stopped, but we were going to Munich and didnt want to get stuck in a small town 5km down the road. Finally after an hour crossed the road and hitchhiked further into Regensburg to another spot where we got a ride straight to Munich in 5 minutes.

So waited for hours in this spot. Nice spot from the looks of it, but not in practice. We were three guys. When we finally got a ride it was the Polizei and they fined us 10 euros for being on the highway haha. All in all fun experience―Anonymous
