Got a ride to Salzburg after two hours...but it was a public holiday in Germany so a lot of families with no room in cars.―Anonymous

friday morning, around 11AM, July, going towrds Berlinspent the night in my tent behind the station in a little patch of trees, very quite. loads of trucks and cars, i took me a bit to get a ride until the next gas station on A9
i was hitchhiking at the entrance of the highway since there were not many cars stopping for petrol, mostly for food/toilets (at least at this time)
a police car drove pass me and said nothing (its always my biggest fear)
station is good. expensive, but there are toilets for truck drivers that are free and they have drinking water, so dont get fooled by the shops

10AM thursday morning on early july, going towrds berlini spent less than 2 hours asking cars and trucks at the gas station...some trucks going south, until a young guy took meon his truck to munich, he was actually going to berlin but had to stop cus of driving hours
no one from the staff bothered me to walk around the station as it happened elsewhere

gas station M.East - a lot of transit traffic, North, South, East! The way description:Take the S-Bahn to the station \"Vaterstetten\", walk down the Bahnhofstreet, turn left and out of the city until you reach a traffic-circle where you have to turn left and after 1,5 km you reach the highway bridge where a path leads you to the rest stop.

I hitchhiked towards Nürnberg from here in a foggy October night, around 01h00 in the morning. I found a ride in about 30 minutes. From the very same place, Vaterstetten, but from the other side of the road, I hitchhiked towards Salzburg/Innsbruck during daytime in the afternoon and I found a ride in about 2 hours. I got here around 14h30 and I left around 16h30.
Globally, my rating for Vaterstetten is "Good" ;)

Me and my girlfriend wanted to go to Stuttgart (A8) in a sunday afternoon, we had to wait for like 2 hours to get a lift to Augsburg. No shades, expensive water at the station... Not a good place to hike―Bence16

Waited 3 and a half hours to get a ride even two rest areas further (don't get dropped at Halledau West btw if you want to go north, it's just on one side of the A9 and less cars going north stop there), many people went just fairly locally or, and that depends on the season, were families returning from vacation and had no space―Anonymous
