Stand right beside the traffic light so people can see you from the car when the light is red(Make yourself bigger). As cars go fast here.Drivers can easily pullover at the bus stop, which is right ahead of traffic stop.

Solo female, Sunday midday. At first was waiting at the end of the gas station with sign to Hannover, did not work. Forgot Germans like to be asked. I sat on the stairs to the shop while writing a new sign and a woman approached me immediately with ride to almost Hannover.―Anonymous
