Waited for a very long time in the hot hot hot sun. I can see how it can work on other days, but for us there’s was only Dutch people with very full cars going anywhere but where we were going. Ended up having to give up and get a ride to the nearest train station.

Decent spot to get to Münster. Cars have some space to stop at the start of the highway ramp but I think drivers with bigger vehicles were hesitant to stop there. Got a ride from a small car.

Might have gotten lucky but got a ride really quick. Good flow of cars

Spoke to 10 people in German and got picked up after 10 min by a truck driver.

Usually a pretty good spot since people go all kinds of places. I asked around four 30mins until I found a ride to near Arnhem (the person was going to Zevenaar)

Very good spot to get out of Oberhausen onto A3 in the direction of Arnhem. There's a traffic light you can stand next to with a sign. Mine was super improvised and it still worked in like 5 minutes. Not super far but to Hünxe which I knew to be a good spot to continue. Was pretty late, so I might have been lucky with Feierabend traffic

Hünxe. Sometimes you get a ride to Ohligers Heide in 30 minutes, sometimes you wait 3 hours before accepting a ride into the HH'ers hell that is Ruhrpot. Today was the latter. Don't be like me. It's (at least) Ohligers Heide or nothing.

It looked like it was to busy for people to stop, but I still got a ride to Hünxe in 3 minutes.

Good spot! Even in the morning (07:30) loads of people, most of them going towards germany! Good spot for asking around, not so much for throwing up your thumb.

Vere pluvis, mi sentis min senenergia, mi estis sub la markizino apud la enirejo de la benzinstacio. Kaj iu frenezulo daŭre prokrastis min, dirante, ke li prenos min dum pli ol horo kaj poste malaperis, do mi devis provi denove kaj denove ĝis mi finfine sukcesis. Kamiono prenis min, kaj ni iris malrapidete, almenaŭ mi alvenis.

Malgraŭ la konstanta pluvo, tre malmulte da trafiko, kaj preskaŭ noktiĝis, ĝi tamen funkciis.

Post atendado dum horo ĉe la benzinstacio, rigardante germanajn kamionistojn kverelantajn inter si pri io ajn, juna viro agrable veturigis min.

Take a train to Oberhausen-Sterkrade and then the bus #979 to "Heinrich-Heine-Str." in Bottrop. From there you'll see the highway, just walk towards it. Good spot to hitch away fast towards Hamburg, Münster,Hannover, Berlin

I also say for the ppl going eastwards: Stay on the A2!!!

This is simply the best spot available eastwards. It might seem tricky if you want to hitch towards Berlin, but it will work out, eventually. Stay along the A2, it's worth it!

asked for a lift to Hamburg, the third car took me directly there

If youre heading Berlin first ask for getting out of this area because a lot of people will leave the road soon. Later it is much more easier to find a lift to Berlin or Hannover. For Hamburg get off "Hannover Garbsen"

Got a lift to Ham after about 30 minutes of asking people at the door. Many people were going north (or atleast said they were). Lots of people moving through.
