waited for an hour with a sign at the end of the station. Then a trucker took me to near Amberg. Pretty okay spot, took longer than expected.

Enough space for cars to stop and quite quickly a man heading to Nürnberg took me to the gas station on the highway going towards Frankfurt.

The gas station wasn’t too busy and the only ones there were not driving far, so I started walking towards the highway and the next thing I know a woman stops to ask if I’m hitchhiking somewhere as she had done it herself too and then took me closer to the highway entrance.

It had already gotten dark, but luckily an Indian couple who were heading north and not a big detour through Amberg took me there. But it was a funny moment when they thought I might be doing something illegal and asked whether I have a valid visa and documents to be in this country. 😃

Really good HHspot. Found a ride to Belgium in only 5 minutes!

- be careful of police patrols, never go out of the area of the parking!
- plenty of opportunities to ask drivers for a ride

Its not completely fair to compare to since we arrived at about 11 pm and it was just a few days before Christmas (almost no cars), but we waited here for almost 11 hours, my longest wait so far! So the blame doesn't go all the way to this place, but it is true that when people can, they get cheaper gas in Czech Republic and they wont stop her so fast...

oberpfälzer alb is a good spot, but not on fridayevening because truckers go to rest for the weekend
once I had to camp just on the personalentrance
the personal looks it bit distrustfull towards hitchhikers
I got once one ride to Heerlen Netherlands and one time I took a ride direction Heilbron to switch there direction Koblenz and afterwards to Holland

Really good hitchhiking spot. The three of us(only guys) manage to get a ride within 2 hours. If you are alone you have perfect chances to get a ride immediately (direction Brno, Romania or Hungary)

We just asked - and our first try (Czech guy - we are also Czechs) was successful.

Good hitchhiking spot, a lot of trucks and cars going in direction to the Czech republic and further to the east

Very good spot towards Czechia, almost all cars will go there. If you're lucky you can get a ride to Prague, else it's easy to get out after the border and find a new car

I asked at the gas station if they have some cardboard for me while the cashier handed me some a customer asked where I need to go and got me near Nürnberg

Not much traffic. All of it to the east. Not many people going to Czechia because fuel is more expensive in Germany so they stop after the border. But we got a ride with a czech guy in a van, who took us all the way to Pilsen witch was our final destination.

Got picked up by a truck driver within 20 min. He was driving to Köln and dropped me of near Würzburg because this was my destination.

The traffic here is pretty low, and most of it is going north towards Berlin or south towards Munich. Not much people going east. I think we got lucky. But we got a ride to the next service station after Nürenburg. We had a sign A6 - east.
