Very low traffic volumes, probably better to jump off at the bigger raststatte Aalbek half an hour before if you need to go past hamburg.―Frederik

Like most places, no cars between 03:00-06:00. We slept in a tent and the first people we asked at 07:00 took us north of Hannover―Beerbucket123HH

Should be easy, lots of people with southern plates and trucks. Didn't even get to hitch as I got offered a ride while going to the (women's) bathroom with a sign Frankfurt. This has become my new technique. Look a bit lost and walk around with a sign. (worth mentioning she was an old hitchhiker and had even participated in races).―Anonymous

Solo female, Sunday midday. At first was waiting at the end of the gas station with sign to Hannover, did not work. Forgot Germans like to be asked. I sat on the stairs to the shop while writing a new sign and a woman approached me immediately with ride to almost Hannover.―Anonymous

Mostly LKW, but managed to find a ride to Kassel for a Swedish guy going to Italy and then I found a Polish bus going towards Wroclaw.―Anonymous

Someone just from a small weekend off south, saw the sign and surprisingly easily gave me the ride. Actually surprised how quick this hitchhike trip went.―KRooijackers

Man walked up to me knowing I was a hitchhiker, wanted to take me. Directly got the ride offered after a small break, hadn't even properly asked around yet.―KRooijackers

Most go south to Hanover, but some also further south. Asking will get you further than a sign though―Inni

Allertal West; Extremely well used raststätte on the A7, due to its location on the stretch of autobahn where all the traffic to Hamburg/Bremen and Hannover/Rhein-Ruhr converge. To the north the A27 and A7 merge, to the south the A352/A2 and A7. Probably the best spot north of Hannover, stood here for 90 seconds trying to get out...―Anonymous

Allertal is the last station before crossing A2. so if you want to go directing Berlin or Magdeburg/Leipzig you should get out here. most people are travelling to the south so it's not thaaat easy. but if you ask for Braunschweig you can get off at the next petrol station on the A2 in front of Braunschweig (Zweidorfer Holz). I've waited 10 minutes ;)―Anonymous

Amazing spot to get north towards Hamburg. Even though it was dark, I was gone in less than five minutes. Advice: Don't get stuck in Stillhorn (last service station before Hamburg) after dark. It's dead.―Anonymous

Asked drivers at the gas-station. Found a driver who brought me almost directly to my home near Bielefeld (A2)―Anonymous
