If you get dropped off nearby and don't want to take public transport to a better stop, this feels like a decent one. It's the main route for traffic coming from the south, and they have to stop at the traffic light for a long time to jump into a car. I stood here with a sign that said "Leipzig," and it worked within 20 minutes. I jumped in a truck all the way to Hannover. But maybe I was just lucky.―martih

Great spot for Chemnitz and Leipzig. Cars have to stop at the traffic lights, and you can easily jump in. Decent traffic, the main way for trucks to Germany.―martih

Is this the safest spot? Definitely not, but it worked for me multiple times. Focus on the cars coming from the ramp; there are not many, but they have to come to a halt at the end and be ready to jump in. Once, I hitched a car directly from the highway. Good with a sign DE.―martih

The were some kids driving around on their bikes looking at my like they had never seen a Hitchhiker before. (Erzgebirge -.-) but just before I left they came by and gave me some rolls "for the journey" that was really sweet. :)―Lukas

Great spot to find a ride to south or Annaberg Buchholz.Take the tram C11 to "Chemnitz-Harthau" (2.20 € from "Chemnitz Zentralhaltestelle") than walk 100m to the street "Annaberger Straße", turn left and walk 200/250m you see the Bus Stop on the left side call "Alte Harth"

Nice spot towards Annaberg. There is a bus stop and the traffic is fairly slow. Only problem is that a lot of the cars are not going very far. Who the fuck want's to go to Annaberg anyway? :D―Anonymous

Waited a long time, both thumbing and asking people. Not much interaction with thumbing, and the people we talked to were rude. Femme wheelchair user and a guy, Eventually we thumbed a lift with a punk band going to a festival in Chemnitz. Had a great time with them and at the festival.―maxiental
