Kinda nice place to hitch when red light is on, but it is on for just short time. Might have good luck with nearby gas station asking around, but low traffic there.―Anonymous

Likely a good spot for Berlin and Leipzig, but I had little luck here going in the Chemnitz direction. It was one of the last hitches of my journey. I looked a bit desperate, but one elderly couple took mercy on me and took me in.―Anonymous

It's easy to go on the A4 from here. You can reach this point by walking very easy. Driver can stop it is not the best place to stop, but it's also not to dangerus.―Anonymous

Terrible hitchhiking spot at Meerane. Meerane is way too quiet, and there is no long distance traffic here whatsoever. If you get stuck here, your best bet is to take a train to Zwickau or Chemnitz, or try your luck on the A4/B93 junction. As I was on the way to Poland and my driver did a 50km detour to here (all the way from the A9) because he was sure that dropping me off at Meerane's McDonalds was a good idea. He shouldn't have bothered. For more info, see http://www.hitchwiki.org/Meerane―Anonymous

Bad hitchhiking spot near Meerane, although if you find yourself stuck in the area it seems to be the best place to hitchhike from. However you really should consider taking a train to Zwickau or Chemnitz, and trying from one of those places instead. As you can see on the satellite image there is very little traffic on this road, but like anywhere you will get rides if you look desperate enough. I got a car to stop by doing an 'emergency' signal on the side of the road and holding out a sign with just a black arrow on it. To get here, walk from Meerane. nah... waited 45mins for a lift to A4 west, even though I had a sign. Not a good place for cars to stop, except when traffic light is red ^^―CrazyKenny

It's much easier to get on the A72 towards Chemnitz/Dresden than towards Hof/Nürnberg. During one hour of waiting there were only 6 cars with Bavarian license plates. To get there from Zwickau take a train to Voigtsgrün (€3,30 )

I have been here two times and both times this petrol station revealed not a good place where to switch drivers - fuel supplied by Total, it's a bit more expensive than other companies and this explains a bit why both times I have seen so few drivers in this spot. I recommend to avoid it if it's possible.―Longhaul

This place can be really lonely. It looks so huge, but there wasn't a lot of traffic coming through. I recommend asking people directly, not thumbing.―Lukas
