A German guy stopped and drove me all the way to the Serbian border. Probably better than anywhere inside Budapest proper

Good spot if you're going to Kecskemet. There is a room for stopping and cars are going slower there because of the roundabout. You have Aldi and Tesco nearby and a huge statue of Jesus or whoever, so if you're relligous you have a higher chance people will stop you.

Huge traffic and lots of trucks, also nice facilities. If you're going south to Szeged, it's a great spot.

An awesome spot to hitch a ride to Budapest. Stand at the very end of it, because from the back there is also a lane with traffic, which goes up to the motorway as well.

In theory sweet spot, in practice it took an hour to find a car going to Budapest. Seems like a very decent spot though. As usual on hungarian petrol stations - caution advised at night.

Not only quickly got a ride. Quickly got a ride with the band Irie Mafia straight into the Szeged Festival. Good place.

At night it was took so long to get a ride to Szeged. Anyway it must be one of the best hitch places in Hungary.

On an eastern sunny day, not so many people on the road. After getting many no's with bad faces, a couple took me 100 km away away from here.

With patience and some Luck you can get a ride to Oradea, Maybe Cluj. Much more traffic going to Arad though. If you are heading to the Northern part of Romania, consider going via Arad, once you're in Ro hitching will go much faster!

Quite busy petrol station, many trucks going to Vienna, Bratislava and Poland.

Perfect location to the south and east. Loads of Romanians but Serbian and Hungarian cars as well. This was on a monday morning. Found my ride to Arad in 5 minutes but if you ask around you can totally go further as well. Last big petrol station before the road splits so you will find drivers to Romania via both Oradea and Arad. Remember 'fără bani (without money)'

Takes quite some time to get there; train to Inárcs-Kakucs and then walk to the gas station. The walk is about 40 minutes.

We hitchhiked in the night so it was pretty hard. After a while we finally got a ride near Budapest

I was going south towards Szeged and previous two spots a bit north didn't work for me. In the end, I have managed to get a ride from here to a nearest gas station on the highway.

It was cold night already. We did not want to sleep outside because it was very cold so we just put a sign on the table with ,,Home,, written on it and stayed in the gas station. Fortunatelly it is open nonstop. To our surprise a lot of people came in. One car was full otherwise they would take us with them but after a while two Polish guys took us with them near Slovak borders. We spent the night in their car, then got a breakfast and then they took us near Nový Jičín in Czechia
