Tried standing with a sign, but there’s not much place to stop safely, so I gave up. After I tried asking around, but be careful, on Fridays and Saturdays people are not keen to go West to Balaton - the traffic is apparently very bad. I got a bunch of locals to take me to a better gas station after asking and they were very nice.―hitchhikeress

At the gas station we met 2 pairs of hitchhikers, so there were 6 hitchhikers in total. We stopped a guy in less than 5 minutes. My friends was still finishing his sign 😂. We put Balaton as our final destination, the guy could only take us halfway. Good spot, almost all the cars end up on the highway.―Michal

You should walk to the crossing (exit of the rest area, and the entrance from the city) there isnt to much place, but a lot of drivers go towards Lake Balaton―Kovacspetyesz
