The bus stop is just after the roundabout so it's not that good to thumb but just a few meters further is another area where cars can stop.Waitet about 30min for a ride towards Budapest. We realised later that the driver wasn't going via the highway but on the road 5 which still worked out fine as after about 40km comes a spot from where it's only 5km to get to a service area on the highway to Budapest.―Tobias

I was not here, but I can not edit the map.The tank station at Petőfiszállás, near M5 is a good place to get a lift. People who work there said, early morning, and late afternoon around 5-6 is the best. Then there are lot of car there (early morning people go to work, late afternoon people come from work and fill up the tank)
So again tank station and reststop a little bit south from here: Petőfiszállási pihenőhely.

Mostly all Cars an Trucks Go to romania, If they leave hungary.The Cars to serbia we're "full", company Cars, or they dont Take "Strangers", or Just ignore you.
Even Cars/Trucks to Turkey, bulgaria Go via romania, maybe because the Police controll all bulgarian/turkish Cars and Truck very hard

Don't accept rides to Csengele if you want to go to Serbia, you may eventually get lucky and get out of this godforsaken place but you'll lose a lot of time trying, mostly tourists with packed cars or truck drivers heading towards Romania stop there―szymanski
