Thumbing at the exit worked well. We got a lift on the M3.―LJIsTooShort

We stood at the exit thumbing because there was so much traffic at the gas station.―LJIsTooShort

at least in the morning (7am) there wasnt much traffic, and what there was was locals or going to Wien, not much for Bratislava. Got a ride to Györ eventually. wildcampers can walk from here into the woods or by the lakes nearby where they could find some chill places to sleep.―Leslie

Agree. Not exactly busy, but there's still a constant amount of cars. I asked every driver stopping at the gas station and got a direct ride to Vienna within an hour - which is ok. The staff at the gas station is indifferent towards hitchhikers. So no problem here.―Tomtom

We passed this place with driver in the weekday evening: seemed very quiet and only a few dark trucks there. If you can ask your driver to bring you couple of km's more north to the service station, better. From this place city and the train station are walkable, so nice in that way.―Mikael

A petrol station near Tatabánya on a direction to Budapest (from Györ and Wien).Quite distant from city, so cars stopping here are going far.

Direction: Győr, Wien. A nice Mini Cooper with a dutch driver took me to Győr. Safe HH spot, but not so many cars. Try NOT to stand very near to the motorway, maybe the police will "disturb" you. Better have a table.―Anonymous

Because I wanted to get to Romania, i put it here the written sign RO, because at summer time, in august, a lot of Romanian goes back to their country. so in 5 minute i got a car straight to Sibiu, and my final destination was Brasov, so just 100 km until my last stop.―Anonymous

A couple. We wanted to go to Germany through Austria, so we wrote "Wien" on a table, then half an hour later a Romanian car stopped, and they brought us near to Nürnberg :)―Anonymous

Very good place! After 15 minutes I got a car to Győr. It's also good, because you can walk out from the highway to the city Tata which is realy nice.―Anonymous
