Good place to stand. The road is a bit wider after the junction so cars can stop. Also gas station is nearby in case you need to buy something or get shelter. I stood there with a sign saying Reykjavík for two hours between 17.30 and 19.30 in summer. Noone stopped. Stood there without a sign the next morning. Got a ride to Rvk within 30 minutes. HI Hostel is 10 minutes down the road past the Bónus store in case you need to crash somewhere.―Anonymous

This is very good spot to hitchhike, you have cars coming from 2 different directions and most of them are heading to Akureyri, we were 2 people and only waited 10 minutes to get a ride, also there is a minirmarket just next to it,―Anonymous

The best spot to leave Akureyri to North/Northwest/West, it takes a little bit to walk to this spot, but it is absolutely recommended.―AdrianB
