I'm backdating this story because I initially missed it when doing my trip write-up.This is the only service station servicing Monaco, for that, it seems quite promising! It's a bit of a quest to get to though, first, a bus will take you most of the way out of Beausoleil; after which you need to walk up a motorway service road and hop a fence. Not too good, not too bad. It'll do.
The sun was getting ready to set when we started hitching, our sign read “Italia” but the evening traffic wasn't looking promising. We weren't too bothered, however, because the views were fantastic, and it looked like a wonderful place to camp!
Right as we turned round to walk into the woods for the night, we heard a horn honking behind us! Five older Brits on a jolly outing to Italy! They gave us a very entertaining lift to Alassio, where we proceeded to find a place to spend the night.
If hitching from here, I'd strongly recommend not accepting anything that isn't to at least Sanremo. The Italian police don't like hitchhikers at the best of times, let alone those that get stuck on a border toll booth with no pedestrian access.

The two gas stations are communicated with an underpass, so it's easy to change direction. It's possible to ask for crossing the locked doors to the town during the shift change (slightly before 06:00, 14:00 and 22:00). My waiting time: 20 minutes to Milano―Febros

A guy drop us in the gas station because he was going to Torino and we were going to Verona, we putted a panel of Milano and Verona, after one hour and half Police came to the gas station and they saw us! fortunately they were nice to they asked us to hide ourself the time they will leave, so after they left we continued to hitchhike again and we found a directly ride to verona after asking too many people in the enterence of the restaurant.―Anonymous
