Great spot going in the direction of Turin, Milan and even more. There's a traffic light where I asked people with a sign "Bologna", there is plenty of space to pull up right after the traffic light. The entrance of the autostrada is just few hundreds km ahead, cars must pass here. I waited 2 minutes and a guy stopped but he was doing only 20 min on the "strada statale" so I kindly declined, came back to the spot, and another max 2 minutes a guy shouted "are you going to Bologna?? Come with me!"
You can try some "long shot" as there's lots of people coming to this region for all kind of stuff related to the mountains around, (my ride was a mountain guide who just climbed mount blanc the day before) and many people from Milan, Turin and everywhere in central Italy.

on 'via parigi' (eng.: "paris road") there are a few traffic lights (wait until the light changes to red) from where you can reach COURMAYEUR, the autostrada A5 (E25) exchange 5 kilometers west of AOSTA or the 'TUNEL du MONTBLANC' behind courmayour. there is a lot of commuter traffic in the area so you should build a cardboard sign with you destination on it.

We made two big signs from pizza boxes, first dir. Milano, then also (CH) but no one stopped for a long time even though there was enough space and I guess everybody could clearly see us.

Not many people go around and most of them are full.

Parking lot near the bridge. Most traffic goes through the tunnel so here you get only tourists going to the pass. An alternative is to climb the Napoleon route to the pass from the nortern side of the bridge (1,5-2 h).

Pas le meilleur endroit si il n'y a pas beaucoup de voitures. Un peu dangereux
