Got a ride by French-Moldavian couple very fast. First to Chamonix, but then they invited me to stay for a night at their place in Annemasse as it was already dark and my destination was Marseille. It was perfectly on my way and I couldn't resist the offer. What a hospitality!―Anonymous

There is a pocket for cars to stop and you are visible from a distance. Good spot to get down to Chamonix―Anonymous

It is very good spot on working days to go direction to Geneva or Lausanne. However on Saturday I was waiting for 3 hours any car to this direction and it never came. 4 cars stoped for me and were ready to take me to the mountains, but I skipped it hoping to get direct ar to Geneva. Then two guys approached me and offered a ride to Mont Blanc and I couldn't resist :)―Anonymous

I love this spot. Excellent for both directions, easy to get a lift to Geneva if going north and to Torino or Milan if going south.Cars are passing REALLY slow, and all the traffic is coming through this tunnel.

Direction : ItalyIt is the easiest point to go to Italy : All the cars passing by here go through the Mont-Blanc Tunnel
Wait just after the roundabout (not further, it may be dangerous).

it took me 5 minutes to catch an opportunity to go to GENEVA from here, waiting directly in front of the mouth of the tunnel. cars go very slow here as they are only let in the tunnel in a 150 meter distance to each other. there is cameras and the organisation that is observing the flow of traffic as well as the safety might not be too positive about you stopping cars here - but in the end - autostop works out very-very well at this place. there is a restaurant and a snack bar in the large administrational and police + customs building less than 30 steps from here. it is of course also possible to hitch to AOSTA, TORINO or GENOVA (on autostrada "A5"/"E25") from here in the opposite direction.―Anonymous

Direction to Martigny. It's possible cross the border on foot, but not to much cars...―Anonymous

Going to "Les Contamines" or "Saint Gervais", this is a good spot. Just after the roundabout, cars go slowly and they can stop easily to pick you up.―Anonymous

Leaving "Les Contamines" back down to the Valley? This is a good spot, all cars will be going your way (so no need for a sign).―Anonymous

Great spot, slow moving traffic and place to pull over. Some 1 euro biscuits from the store to stave off hunger haha, expensive store otherwise!―Anonymous

Actually it's not such a good spot. Most cars head left towards the centre, as nearly every car coming from further away is already on La Route Blanche and into an underpass, skipping the roundabout.―Catronomix

We got a lift only to Aosta. It may be wise to wait for a car going far since here you get mostly long-distance traffic.―Prochy
