On a sunday i waited the whole day but the place was really dead, the only ones who stopped were going back to milan.
I speak italian so i asked everyone in the station but got no luck at all, maybe i'll try again tomorrow.

Hitchhiking in Italy can be a pain, but Milano is perhaps the worst. There are toll booths here where every single car heading southwest must slow to a crawl or stop entirely. I know it's a hike, but sack up because Italians are not sympathetic to hitching. Take the metro to the most southern stop and then follow roads until there are no more roads. Walk through fields if you have to. Stand in the small safe area between two toll lanes with a sign (for Genova or where ever)and 100% of traffic will not only see you, but already be slowing down. I got to the toll from the note I've added just north of here. Once at the tolls I caught a ride in about 10 minutes.

If you can get to this place then all traffic passing will be at least getting on the highway going south. Waited 2 hours for a ride to the nearby toll booths and only 10 minutes from there onward. The only real perk to this place is the nearby auto-grill with water and bathrooms (just south) and the surrounding fields offering a place to crash for the night if you don't find a ride.

In fact in Italy it is forbidden to hitchhike at a toll station. So better not get caught by the police :)

agreed
But I was lucky enought to get a ride from a person willing to get out of thir way to get me to the next gas station. Quite far away!
I cant find it, but there I got a ride with the first car i asked (Romanian gypsy's) all the way to Genova.

Very good place for hitchhiking, but You have to remember about smile and good attitude, because hitchhike in Italy is not so comon and You have to ask people who don't speak English, but in this point even service of this station helped us! Only 10 min waiting!

A quite small petrol station with Autogrill.
It is theoretically a good spot to hitch away from Milano but its quite hard getting there by public transportation. I took an S-train direction Abbiaragate to the station Cesano Boscone and from there bus 323 to D'Acquisto-Liberta stop at the roundabout. From there you have to cross a kind of natural park which then ends and you have to walk through 2 fields crossing two small "rivers", for the first there is a tree put as natural bridge, the second you have to take shoes off and walk through. Otherwise its impossible to get to the motorway. After this there was even some road works around the station so I had to cross the road works illegally. After all this I got a direct ride to Basel, Switzerland.

I was asking everybody if they could take me to Milano but nobody would go to Milano from here. Cars going in this direction are going to Bologna, Firenze, etc. If you want to go to Milano but you ended up here, then you should ask people to take you more ahead on the road until a place where you can cross the street and go direction Milano. I did go to a toll station (if you go direction Bologna) and I went to the other side of the toll. Got a ride there in less than 1 min after I found a good spot to thumb up

I was dropped here (coming from Genova), and found this is NOT a good spot IF you want to go either into Milano or east towards Brescia/Verona/Venezia/etc.

It is much better for destinations north or west of Milano (though there might be better service areas in other spots around the city).

To get into the city I got a ride to Rho and then another one into the city. Waiting time: about 2 hours.
