Lot of traffic going Genova direction. Young couple stoped to take us (2) directly to Genova city centre. We just had a sign Genova.―TwoThumbsTravel

On a sunday i waited the whole day but the place was really dead, the only ones who stopped were going back to milan.I speak italian so i asked everyone in the station but got no luck at all, maybe i'll try again tomorrow.

We waited an hour and a half, at first out of view of the Tamoil gas station employees, but then it turned out they were cool with us asking for rides from there. multiple people offered to pick us up, but mostly not going far (to San Giuliano Milanese) or the wrong way (Bergamo).―road2riot2k25

if you want to go south get a sign with A1 or "Autostrade del sole" on it―Anonymous

Hitchhiking in Italy can be a pain, but Milano is perhaps the worst. There are toll booths here where every single car heading southwest must slow to a crawl or stop entirely. I know it's a hike, but sack up because Italians are not sympathetic to hitching. Take the metro to the most southern stop and then follow roads until there are no more roads. Walk through fields if you have to. Stand in the small safe area between two toll lanes with a sign (for Genova or where ever)and 100% of traffic will not only see you, but already be slowing down. I got to the toll from the note I've added just north of here. Once at the tolls I caught a ride in about 10 minutes.―Anonymous

If you can get to this place then all traffic passing will be at least getting on the highway going south. Waited 2 hours for a ride to the nearby toll booths and only 10 minutes from there onward. The only real perk to this place is the nearby auto-grill with water and bathrooms (just south) and the surrounding fields offering a place to crash for the night if you don't find a ride.―Anonymous

This place was awful to me. The gas station guy is EXTREMELY unfriendly, as he threw me out insulting me and yelling at me just cause I was politely asking drivers if they were going to the highway. I gave up after 1 hour and a half.―Emanuele19956

In fact in Italy it is forbidden to hitchhike at a toll station. So better not get caught by the police :)―Irazall

agreedBut I was lucky enought to get a ride from a person willing to get out of thir way to get me to the next gas station. Quite far away!
I cant find it, but there I got a ride with the first car i asked (Romanian gypsy's) all the way to Genova.

Very good place for hitchhiking, but You have to remember about smile and good attitude, because hitchhike in Italy is not so comon and You have to ask people who don't speak English, but in this point even service of this station helped us! Only 10 min waiting!―Anonymous

good to get to the south. get there by bus 162 from famagusta. the bus will drop you on the other side of the Autostrata, but you can get to the gas station by crossing the bridge. good luck―Anonymous

There's a small gas station and a traffic light, so I could ask every driver as soon as the light turned red. Everyone is hitting the highway here. I got a ride to Bologna after 40 minutes.―Emanuele19956
