Arrived by ferry (which i paid for) in Ancona. I stood near the exit for cars with my prepared sign, and someone stopped in less than 10 minutes and took me to an Autogrill in Bologna.

Not the best spot, but it works just fine to get further on towards Verona. You can probably find a better spot along the SS12 route though.

Easy to catch a ride along the SS12 route, ideal for off-highway direction towards Verona. I would recommend taking this route to avoid getting stuck on the highway, its very easy to catch rides all the way to Verona, it took us 3 rides and we waited mby 30 minutes alltogether.

Honestly not really a good spot, but if you are lucky there will be someone doing a show for the cars at the opposite traffic lights so I think its well worth it to just chill there and wait for someone who takes you to the end of the city for better spots😆

We started at Rimini Nord toll booth and easily got a ride here. It was very hot in the morning so we didn't want to wait. After 10 minutes a camper driver saw us waving from afar and came back to pick us up. He took us to Samoggia a little town after Bologna. One girl one boy.

I got asked by the police to not stand on the exit of the gas station with my thumb out and to only ask people if they could give me a ride. Was fine though :)

After table-diving a whole plate with chicken schnitzel and fries in the restaurant i got a lift in 1h20min to switzerland. I asked for a ride towards Verona to hitch via Innesbruck to Munich, but everyone was driving Milano or Switzerland direction, so after an hour or so I decided to take a ride to switzerland to continue to Munich from there. This stradegy worked fine :)

Been through this very gas station a couple of times, and a lot of people go north toward Austria. The police often comes around but they won't bother you at all :)

take the linea 9 direction citta nova. exit viale virgillio. follow the road and after the second roundabout take the street which goes a bit left and does not have a sidewalk (Strada Cave Ramo) It leads to the autostrada and you see it from there

Very busy gas station. Had to wait 2 hours to get a ride to Lazio region though.

Wasted 3 hrs trying to go out from this city, three round about, 5 km by foot, saved by a crazy man stopped in the middle of the road with all cars blowing horn..

Huge gas station on the highway. Most cars going west, Parma-Milano, but also many north, Verona-Brennero. To get there take the bus from Modena autostazione and get off in "tre olmi" (on school holiday there are few buses and it might be preferable to walk or take another bus half the way). Go left in the roundabout down "strada tre olmi". There's a hotel next to the gas station, and from its parking lot there is a kind of always open swinging gate through the fence.

Awesome spot to go south. Many cars go to Florence and Rome.

Went here from the gas station near bologne, the one going from Florence. It turned out noone there was going into Rimini direction which we wanted to. Here after 3 minutes a CEO of some robotics company in a new Audi Q5 SUV took us. We were 2 guys.

Not sure how to get here, another driver got me here.
Got a ride to Verona offered in less then 10 minutes. Wanted to go to Switzerland so I only took it to Autogrill Secchia Est near Modena, which had a little bit more traffic.

If you're trying to further south into Rimini direction don't stop at this station. It was kinda our mistake. It turned out basically everybody there was going north to Milan or further and noone through bologne to south. People there seemed very chill and wanted to take us but we were off with directions. After 2 hours of asking we decided to go back 30km to the previous gas station and ask there. It needed a little fance hopping but got a ride after 3minutes of asking.
