Arrived by ferry (which i paid for) in Ancona. I stood near the exit for cars with my prepared sign, and someone stopped in less than 10 minutes and took me to an Autogrill in Bologna.

Not the best spot, but it works just fine to get further on towards Verona. You can probably find a better spot along the SS12 route though.

Easy to catch a ride along the SS12 route, ideal for off-highway direction towards Verona. I would recommend taking this route to avoid getting stuck on the highway, its very easy to catch rides all the way to Verona, it took us 3 rides and we waited mby 30 minutes alltogether.

Honestly not really a good spot, but if you are lucky there will be someone doing a show for the cars at the opposite traffic lights so I think its well worth it to just chill there and wait for someone who takes you to the end of the city for better spots😆

very bad spot, the highway sign is placed so that all the good spots for hitchhiking are blocked off and you will be risking a fine if you pass it, also be careful, it turns out there are 2 signs marking the start of the highway, where one of them is just for show i guess cuz we got police kicking us out behind the first one, which we didnt notice at first. If you are heading towards Firenze it should be okay since we got like 5 cars stopping, but noone is heading towards Bologna. If u end up here going towards Bologna, I recommend making a sign and standing at the road marked by the map, where most cars pass through and try finding a place with the most space at this road, its not ideal, but its better than nothing.

Got lucky that some workers were opening the gate as soon as I got to the station. Not sure if access is possible otherwise. No sign, asking people directly. Most foreigners were down but usually had full cars, a couple of Italians on their way to Vicenza dropped me off in Bologna.

We started at Rimini Nord toll booth and easily got a ride here. It was very hot in the morning so we didn't want to wait. After 10 minutes a camper driver saw us waving from afar and came back to pick us up. He took us to Samoggia a little town after Bologna. One girl one boy.

Best place for going north towards Padova. Take the bus to stop Bentivoglio Z. i. Barche and then walk on Via Sammarina for 500 m, then turn right.

Good place to go towards north (Milano) or south (Florence) on the A1. IMPORTANT: If you press the button of the pedestrian-crossing light right at the intersection, ALL cars for your direction will IMMEDIATELY stop in front of you. That will help you a lot.

To get to the place you can probably get a bus to the intersection of Emilia Ponente / Viale Sandro Pertini.

Don't fully agree to what above me said. This only applies when you don't have a lot of luggage as the traffic light is only red for about 25 seconds (which isn't a lot).

Then for Florence cars can't pull over to the right very well as they gotta go straight in general.

I still got away after about 90 minutes, but it was quite dangerous.

Terrible place to be dropped off, i waited a few hours and nearly created 2 accidents so to sum up its better to walk down to the MWtoll and risk the fine...

Second time we find out, that the bolognian people do not like Hitcher. That was the second time was was tiring to catch a car. Stood there for 2-3 hours. Many cars pass by, even local people tells us. That this is the best possible stop. that was our second time we was forcer to leave Bologna by Train.

Average spot, petrol station nearby, average number of cars. Wanted do catch something to Venezia, but went to Cento with awesome baker-gangstarapper :)
