Not a great city getting out of by hitchhiking… We tried 4 different spots around the city. This one seemed like the best one, even though it took over 2 hours to get a ride. We even got lucky, because there was stau on the highway, so a lot of cars got redirected past us. We ended up getting a ride to Verona with a truck. camped behind the bar in the grassy area the night before (be cautious of sprinklers). started at 7:30am, carabinieri pulled up to check IDs but didn't do anything. we stood right on the edge of the roundabout in front of the gas station. wouldn't recommend trying to hitchhike from here if you have other options. best to stay at an autogrill on the autostrada in my opinion and be cautious of police/carabinieri while doing it (two males)―Crackedbaldeggs

this side of Bolzano is better, when you want to go to the north (heading for Austria); in the other direction many cars will choose the southern (actually more western) exit to get on the road―Anonymous

For some reason many drivers in this area have frowned or done the "che cazzo vuoi?" (what the fuck) hand sign to me when h-hiking with a sign for a very long distance. I got better results with a sign that said Verona.―Sam iam
