You can get in the gas station by a small gate in the fence from the road behind the station. Technically illegal but no one seemed to care.―arzugar

Probably the best spot to hitchhike out of Messina but still not a good spot. There are some place for the cars to stop but not so much and lots of cars cant see you because of a fence. I got a lift to the first autogrill on the way to Palermo.―HUNmeszabi
