Follow the instruction other people wrote in order to reach this spot. Personally, I bought a €2,6 train ticket from Turin to Alpignano then walked for 20 minutesI was holding a sign with "France" written on it and the second person I asked got me a lift to Susa Autoporto, where he was heading to to work. It probably helped that we were both Italians but I will forever remember this as my first ever hitchhiking lift and I can only thank this community for the help

On theory the spot seems to be good: most of the cars are moving to south/east and few of them to the city. However, I waited so a long time with little success. I had a "Genova" sign with me and after more than two hours (Saturday, morning) I got a short 60km ride.―BDalas

I was trying to get to Milan but I couldn't find anyone, it was all locals. Eventually I got a ride to Torino porta Susa and took the train. Getting to Turin is very easy and sometimes more south but not north―Peddy42

i have not hitchhiked from this spot but you should be able to reach the "TUNNEL de FREJUS" from here (meaning: FRANCE). the petrolstation in the opposite eastbound direction (MILANO and NOVARA) has moved 500 meters eastward (this satellite image shows an older picture). on how to reach this station from TORINO please see my comment for a TAMOIL station 300 meters northwest of here. there is a lot of traffic (going westbound) at this spot.―Anonymous

there at the tollgate you can catch all traffic westwards. need go through a maize field and climb over a rail fence.―Anonymous

a TAMOIL petrolstation near 'hotel GIGLIO', in my eyes the only place to reach AOSTA and FRANCE from TORINO. positive: the station is very well kept, clean and with a lot of flowers and a nice garden. the staff is friendly. drivers that stop here can ONLY travel in the direction of AOSTA on autostrada A5 (E 612). very negative: there is almost no traffic (4-5 cars every half hour). the station is partly abandoned (the shop and the bar are closed). to reach this station from the center of TORINO it takes not more than 40 minutes. take tram number -4- from the center of TORINO to the AUCHAN supermarket (corso vercelli/ corso romania corner to corso giulio cesare), walk across the supermarket and take bus number -51- indicating "CIMITIERO SETTIMO TORINESE" get of after three or four stops at the "PITTARELLO" shoe shop (you can ask the driver for help). walk in the direction the bus leaves underneath a motorway bridge, walk left over the TAV-railway-line on "via cebrosa" in northward direction. follow the signs to "hotel GIGLIO". walk over autostrada "A4". from the bridge you can also see two other petrol stations. one on your right side (direction: MILANO), one on your left side (direction: "TANGENZIALE NORD" and the "TUNNEL de FREJUS") also the "hotel GIGLIO"on your left side. use the switchback at the bottom of the dam of the bridge and walk back towards the ESSO station. behind it you find the hotel. walk further until the TAMOIL station. again: you need to be patient at this place but there are cars that can take you northward to AOSTA as well as FRANCE.―Anonymous

an ESSO petrolstation on the "tangenziale nord" (A55) in the AOSTA and MILANO direction. i had bad luck here, did not found a driver in three hours (!) that could take me to AOSTA. i had two or three offers to travel to MILAN though. positive: there is a lot of traffic (but also many torino area commuters). the station is very clean and safe, the staff is friendly and speaks english. if your destination should be AOSTA or CHAMONIX (meaning: FRANCE), you should choose definitely another petrolstation (TAMOIL) circa 2,5 kilometer east of here near 'hotel GIGLIO' (see my other marker). this ESSO petrolstation here is difficult to reach as most of the italian stations are not to reach from the landside. there is always high fences (or locked gates) you need to climb over. take tram number -4- from the center of TORINO to the AUCHAN supermarket (corso vercelli/ corso romania corner to corso giulio cesare), walk along 'corso vercelli' westward around the two big block of flats. walk over the railway line on "strada provinciale di cuorgne" northward until the instersection to "strada communale di villaretto", walk on this road westward (underneath the airport motorway access road) and until the bridge over autostrada A4. you can see the station from here. you need to climb down the dam and get over the fence. this was the most stupid way of reaching a hitchhiking spot ever, congratulations if you have made it (!).―Anonymous

i have not hitchhiked from here but it should be possible to reach MILANO or NOVARA from here. this petrolstation has recently moved 500 meters eastward to here (the satellite image shown is older than that). to reach this station from the TORINO city center please read my comment for another station 500 meter northwest of here. it should not take more than 40 minutes to reach this place from the city.―Anonymous

Yeah, it's completely closed...you can still hitchhike at the former entrance to the gas station - cars are pretty slow and can easily stop. question is though, it all the travel to that place is worth it. NOTE: the bus stop where you have to get off is OLYMPIC VILLAGE!!!! there's indeed pitarello supermarket but you really need to watch out carefully. Also the bus number isnt 51, but something like SE01...it goes from the side of the street where you will arrive with the tram that is opposite of AUCHAN.―Mrm1985

Came here from Direction Milano on my way to SAVONA. I hoped someone would take me to the gas station on the southbound highway A6, but with only 1,5h of patience on a Thursday afternoon I didn't get lucky. Somebody said there's a toll station one km from here, so I started walking behind the guardrail along the highway direction Savona. Not such a good idea - dangerous! Best idea if you end up here is probably to hitch into the city and try to get close to the beginning of A6 direction Savona.―Marcus De

09/2012: We made our way to get there which took us more than one hour...and yeah it's been completely abandoned. So what we did was going to the exit of the gas station and tried to stop someone directly on the highway. By modifying the construction marks a bit we facilitated drivers to pull over :)It worked out after 45 minutes so it is not impossible! But still not to recommend

Waited for 45 mins before I was kicked off this place by Italian police. I made the journey in the description, only in the other direction: took the tram into the city and used the train to get to Milan.―David12scht

two details about how to reach the petrol station: exact name of bus stop is "Torino 315" (or few no. up or down) --- I stopped at "Torino" AND had to walk for 3 km to reach via Vermea :-than, correct direction: get via Vermea, 100m on the left of the bus stop, go thru for 1 km approx, check on the left for Via Napoli, do not take the overpass but the small country road on the left --- you already see the petrol station from the beginning of via Napoli :-)
DO NOT TAKE VIA GOZZANO!!! they must have changed the street name disposition recently, it would take you on the wrong path --- from the beginning of via Gozzano I could see the petrol station on the opposite direction :-
