Follow the instruction other people wrote in order to reach this spot. Personally, I bought a €2,6 train ticket from Turin to Alpignano then walked for 20 minutes

I was holding a sign with "France" written on it and the second person I asked got me a lift to Susa Autoporto, where he was heading to to work. It probably helped that we were both Italians but I will forever remember this as my first ever hitchhiking lift and I can only thank this community for the help

On theory the spot seems to be good: most of the cars are moving to south/east and few of them to the city. However, I waited so a long time with little success. I had a "Genova" sign with me and after more than two hours (Saturday, morning) I got a short 60km ride.

I was trying to get to Milan but I couldn't find anyone, it was all locals. Eventually I got a ride to Torino porta Susa and took the train. Getting to Turin is very easy and sometimes more south but not north

an ESSO petrolstation on the "tangenziale nord" (A55) in the AOSTA and MILANO direction. i had bad luck here, did not found a driver in three hours (!) that could take me to AOSTA. i had two or three offers to travel to MILAN though. positive: there is a lot of traffic (but also many torino area commuters). the station is very clean and safe, the staff is friendly and speaks english. if your destination should be AOSTA or CHAMONIX (meaning: FRANCE), you should choose definitely another petrolstation (TAMOIL) circa 2,5 kilometer east of here near 'hotel GIGLIO' (see my other marker). this ESSO petrolstation here is difficult to reach as most of the italian stations are not to reach from the landside. there is always high fences (or locked gates) you need to climb over. take tram number -4- from the center of TORINO to the AUCHAN supermarket (corso vercelli/ corso romania corner to corso giulio cesare), walk along 'corso vercelli' westward around the two big block of flats. walk over the railway line on "strada provinciale di cuorgne" northward until the instersection to "strada communale di villaretto", walk on this road westward (underneath the airport motorway access road) and until the bridge over autostrada A4. you can see the station from here. you need to climb down the dam and get over the fence. this was the most stupid way of reaching a hitchhiking spot ever, congratulations if you have made it (!).

Waited in this position for many hours with no success, further south there are more places to autostop.

Waited for 45 mins before I was kicked off this place by Italian police. I made the journey in the description, only in the other direction: took the tram into the city and used the train to get to Milan.

two details about how to reach the petrol station: exact name of bus stop is "Torino 315" (or few no. up or down) --- I stopped at "Torino" AND had to walk for 3 km to reach via Vermea :-

than, correct direction: get via Vermea, 100m on the left of the bus stop, go thru for 1 km approx, check on the left for Via Napoli, do not take the overpass but the small country road on the left --- you already see the petrol station from the beginning of via Napoli :-)
DO NOT TAKE VIA GOZZANO!!! they must have changed the street name disposition recently, it would take you on the wrong path --- from the beginning of via Gozzano I could see the petrol station on the opposite direction :-

Waited 2 hours early evening for a lift to Milan (returning skier from the alps). In that time 4 different police cars stopped, one informed us that we shouldn't be hitching from there but left us alone, the rest just ignored us. Whilst the police were there most drivers ignored us. Very friendly petrol staff though who asked friendly truck drivers if they could take us.
