The traffic is not bad, we used a combination of one guy asks at the door of the autogrill and the second tries with a thumb up, eventually got a car using the thumb to Pisa, but I would try asking the foreign cars in person to maximise chances since Italians simply wont stop🥲―Filipnatripu

With almost no space for cars to stop not very good place to hitchhike, but all cars who pass around goes to autostrada A12. There is a toll station 30m further, it is legal to hitchhike in front of it (illegal is to hitchhike behind toll stations)―Anonymous

My goal was to reach Portofino. Good spot to talk to drivers who are waiting at the gas station but I had to accept to travel small distances : went to Bogliasco then Recco then Santa Margherita with 3 différent drivers and 10min of waiting between each.―Gregotostpp
