Not a good spot for going directly to Groningen. The N355 is a local road that soon after Leeuwarden becomes a rather small provincial road. Better take the spot in the south towards the A7, the bigger highway to Groningen.―Anonymous

Good spot just south of the crossing with traffic lights, hard shoulder (old bus stop) so cars have space to stop.A lot of traffic in the direction of Drachten (15 km S) which has good hitchhiking spots for the A7 towards Groningen (E) and probably also towards Heerenveen and Joure (SW)

Good spot after the boat from Schiermonnikoog arrives. Got a lift to Amsterdam in 10 minutes. You can just stay near the exit from both parking places on the line for buses.―Anonymous

used to get from Dokkum to Groningen. was picked up within 5 minutes. small road with mostly local traffic so you may need multiple rides to get to Groningen. lots of place for car to stop―Anonymous
