During summer holidays loads of families with full cars, lots of ppl going north. Best bet is not to ask at the more frequented lunchspot, but rather ask around the petrol station as theres much less falilies stopping there

Lots of traffic lights and cars headed to the expressway. Good visibility, parking places, bustops and a cycle lane provide good options for pulling over.

Target was Eindhoven. Lots of dutch plates left me feeling hopeful.

One guy pulled over and was going 1km. Rejected hahaha. Next a nice couple going to bonn. Rejected.

Then I got a direct ride to eindhoven!!!!

All the drivers spoke English and german.

Fucking great spot.

Quietist but still decent traffic flow. Space to pullover on shoulder. Rejected 1 ride going 2km. Then got ride direct to Machen with some germans.

Lots of dutch and german plates. My drivers spoke English and german. Solid spot

This place is counterintuitive, or I just got lucky, but I was exhausted and in a not-so-great mood, so I desperately wanted to get out of Germany. So I got a sign saying BE, and it took just a couple of minutes to get a ride to the small town of Kelmis in Belgium.

I made a mistake and trusted my driver that this would be a good place. It was not. I tried standard hitchhiking, but soon realized that there is too heavy traffic for that here. So I started asking at the gas station, and that worked after some time.

I stood at the roundabout on the end. There was a lot of traffic. Had a sign saying Köln. Then a guy took me past it to a station in the direction of Frankfurt. Good spot. You can get here by bus from Aachen very easily, the bus station is right next to the station.

Right now the roundabout is closed due to construction. If youre heading to Köln i reccomend taking the 52 bus from the city centre to the gas station on autobahn 4. Its like 10 minutes.

Not a lot of people going to Köln, but you can get to Aachen pretty quickly and go from there. There is space to stop but not that many cars going through.
