That's the first place after the border that looked good for hitchhiking for me so I just stood here with my thumb up and after around 35 minutes I was going towards Skopje. Maybe I was lucky but that was one of the easiest borders to hitchhike after it in all of balkans―Autostopeks

Not bad space for stopping and nice place to sleep near by the abandoned tools but it's very hard to get here from Thessaloniki, probably the best way is to hitchhike here. There is a bus but it's a ghost bus that exists only on Google maps and as it was already dark I don't think that hitchhiking would work well. At the end I had to WALK HERE FOR OVER 18 KILOMETERS which took me around 4 hours and I got here around 4 am... But except for that I think it's not a bad spot for going to North Macedonia―Autostopeks

Perfect spot to go to the border (Guevgueliya). Once there, walk one hour, don't wait another lift to the border crossing. Most people are afraid to bring strangers to the checkpoint and by walking you're almost faster than the queue to enter Greece. Just hitchhike after the checkpoint. Got picked up by a truck while standing in the grass on the left side the road (driver side). Used a sign with Skopje. Little shade but the post of a tall sign was just about big enough to hitch partly shaded. People drive slow here and you're very visible―Leonw

It's not very busy here, and almost all cars that came here where families with full cars. I talked to a few people and got offered a ride instantly, but not to the right border so I declined. Then after waiting for 2 hours a guy on a motorcycle offered me a ride to the border. Might have been a bit reckless but it worked.―Leonw

We were 2 guys. A lot of cars passing through, they are going slow so they can clearly see you. When we were there, it was the middle of July so must of the cars were families going home from vacation so cars were full. After like 2 hours we declined 1 ride to Gevgelija. After another 2 hours we finally got a ride and it was all the way to Belgrade, we had a sign Serbia. Before we also tried with sign Skopje.―simsvob

There's an abandoned toll station here providing shade in summer (one could even sleep in the booths at night), good visibility and road broad enough for traffic to stop for you. Not much traffic, but got a ride to the border within half an hour.―platschi

I recommend this place. Truck driver takes me to his house and then we switch to his son's car until Greece border (thanks Oliver!). Spot has a lot of place, a shop, some benches, and grass. In my case, I take a bus from the Sub-Scopie town Petrovce to the village Katlanovo, then I walk 10-15 min in the direction of this gas station, but I have to find a hole in the net between Higthway and the local road.―MateuszPL

The spot is great (great visibility and place to stop), but I ended up waiting for quite some time to find a ride to Thessaloniki. When asking around, I even talked with a man my age who said he was going to Thessaloniki, but "refused to take strangers into [his] car because of all the problems with imigrants". Funnily enough, I was picked up by an Albanian who emigrated to Greece a few minutes later.―Vojaganto

2016 - behind traffic lights, there is bus stop so it's safe to stop for a car.Yet it was at the time of many refugees taking the route thru the Balkan area + a lots of beggars on the traffic lights. So perhaps because of this it wasn't easy. Got ride by Turkish driver, the first and only one offered on this spot, direct to border crossing with MK.

Waited a bit and got direct to border crossing to GR (2016, 1m + 1f).Truck driver on methadone treatment (who knows :).
Chill guy, safe handling of vehicle.
In the middle of the trip, he found out he had forgotten his medicine, so he went back home to pick it up. On way back he took us by old route as it's nicer to pass by (and not boring to ride the machine thru more wildly shaped road) and the sun was going down, making the scenery.
He like to listen to Janis Joplin - what a ride - unforgettable!
