I don't think that you could get a better spot for going north. I was here late in the evening, with a lot of local traffic, but a few cars were going to the airport. I would advise you to take a ride to the airport (the first one I declined and later regretted it), get off near Jessenheim, and hitch from there, because there are a lot of local cars.

Not the greatest spot, and it felt like a mercy ride. The guy apparently saw me as he was going to the gas station and therefore stopped for me after, but otherwise, there's no good place to stop. Ask at the gas station.

You see the car arriving far ahead though not usually going super far, got dropped at a gas station on the way

lonnnnng spot ahahah
a lot of traffic but not that much of ppl going to sweden (like stockholm)
if ur trying to get to stockholm you’ll have to be very patient, most of the people take the train or plane to get there

hopefully a guy arrived 2h after under rain and dropped me to arjang (100km from oslo)
good luck but the spot if perfect, a lot of space for cars to stop

quite a few cars passing (middle of july) so it was fairly easy

not the best ever to get out of the city but it works after 1h30
luckily there was that country festival so there were a lot of ppl
> recommend to place yourself after the gas station (specifically on the spot that i have add), if u want to get to oslo !
i finally found a direct ride but you also need to have a sign, cars gets a bit faster but there are place for them to stop
good luck 😌

9:20am on a tuesday, most cars are going south so not much luck. There is a resting area for cars and trucks where you can go and ask them. There is a truck gas pump and you can ask there too when you see one. Otherwise you just ask every car that stops for gas/charging/coffee...
At lunch there's a burger king so you can move there at some point in the morning.
After more than 2 hours a truck driver that was parked brought me straight to copenaghen (and gave me food, cola, snacks, candy, coffee, cigarettes and anything you could imagine)

If you get stuck here I think you're screwed so be careful at what time you reach it.

really nice spot to get out of strömstad for oslo!
i got taken in 10min by a van 🌲🌲🌲
place yourself at the bus station with a sign, a lot of trafic (in july i mean) and cars are getting slow
good luck but i think it’s gonna be okay !

Got a direct ride to Oslo as a M/F couple with a sign after an hour. A fair amount of German and Norwegian cars, although ultimately a Swedish/Icelandic couple took us. Beware that in summer, there's no shade and you'll be burning.

Good spot first 15 minutes I held a sign. A few people stopped mainly taxi drivers willing to take me a short distance for free but with a thumb was much better. One guy went out of his way to drive me to my destination so I was quite lucky but a good spot nonetheless to get out of Oslo.

Very good spot relative to the place and time. 10ish am on a thursday, many cars, most are going south though. Thankfully two cars were going to Oslo but i just had to wait for them to charge/finish sleeping. I went with a nice guy and his daughter who just charged their car here. There is a burger king for food and toilet and its decently busy place to ask. People were all friendly and helpful.

Had to get through this tunnel, got a ride quick.

Great spot to head towards Oslo! There's not much space for drivers to pull over, but it's wide enough for them to pull to the side and stop. It's also beneficial that there is a roundabout and drivers go slower and can take their time to think about picking you up when they see you.

One male 40+, with a sign "Oslo", one big and one small backpacks, sunny and warm day. Going to Oslo.
A bus stop, good visibility and enough space even for a lorry to stop. Much closer there is a petrol station, but it's on a curve with almost no space to stop, so I think this place is better and worth the extra 20 minutes walk.
I was very luck this time. I waited only 10 minutes and I got a ride straight to the Oslo centre.

One male 40+, with a sign "Stockholm", one big and one small backpacks, rainy day.
A bus stop, good visibility and enough space even for a lorry to stop. Not very busy road, a few cars per minut.
I waited only 20 minutes. The fact that I was wearing a t-shirt with a big Polish emblem helped me loooads. The lorry driver who stopy was Polish. He took me to the border, where I quicky got a ride from an anothy Polish truck driver to Stockholm. I'm not sure how long I'd have to wait if I didn't have the t-shirt.
The place is a bit far from the Oslo centre, but about half an hour walk is a decent size park-forest where I pitched a tent for a night.

Still a great spot, got a ride with a guy transporting a boat to Telemark (?). Don’t mind my 50min wait time - I’m a scruffy looking guy so this place is as good as they come for me. I really recommend it for going Trondheim til Oslo.

A guy and a girl with a small sign on a Sunday at noon. This spot is quite good. Two people stopped in 20min, and the third one took us South of Oslo and offered us lunch !
