There's a lot of traffic and space to pull over (small, private gravel road) but maybe the drivers couldn't see it. Anyway, as I was only going to Horten, I found out that there is a local bus going straight there, so I gave up trying to hitchhike after ~90 minutes.―klawik

Small, chill, rest place with a small restaurant. Not a lot of traffic, but asking people will get you places, easy to get to Drammen or Oslo. An old guy alone in his camper, going all the way north, picked me up.―friki

Good spot, space to stop on the side of the road, they still go slow. Had to wait three rounds of ferry to get a car, so not the best in that regard. Tried with and without sign, should be easier to go south in the highway.―friki

Super quick pickup, going north. We even got a free ride on the car ferry to Helden. Two people with backpacks!―MayaMC

I took a bus from city centre (50nok) to this spot. I was lucky, my last hitchhike in Norway!!! And picked up by a smiling Syrian man.. it was really hard to hitchhike in Norway compared with other European countries, but in the end, I made it! :) thanks to those who I met;)―momo

If you need get out of city the good one and not far away spot is at next side of the street at place where is Slottetsmuseet - you can easily ask every body. Just 10 minutes from centre.―Anonymous

There is a gas station here right by a big supermarked, the gas station is right next to E18 (major road to Oslo, Kristiansand) and it's right next to Torp Airport. So there is a lot of traffic going thru here.―Anonymous

Nice spot for going south (Kristiansand). This is a new (you won't find it on Google Street) roundabout exit towards Larvik (E18). We were 3 guys (!) and it took us only ~20min to catch a car.
I think it's better than the gas station if you're going south.
You can get to that spot going through the footbridge that you can find near the supermarket behind the gas station.

This isn't a proper spot but maybe I just got lucky. There's very little space to stop and drivers see you a bit too late. However, one of the first cars stopped, but the ride wasn't good, so I continued and fairly soon got a ride to Arendal, dinner included!!―Anonymous

A decent spot as it is possible to catch a ride both from the gas station and street.I recommend to have a sign since some cars go West. Got a ride straight to Oslo after 40 minutes of waiting
