Decent spot for getting out of Stavanger (towards the south). There were a lot of ongoing roadworks around so that probably didn't help.―klawik

A guy and a girl on a Friday at noon, with a sign. This spot is good if you get stranded in the area : cars don't go fast and there is enough space to stop. But a lot of people only go to Stavanger. Two cars stopped and the last one took us to Forus, south of Stavanger, but we got stranded there so, if you can, try to have ride further, like Ålgård.―JumpingRabbit

Good Spot. Easy to get a ride to the ferry or with a bit of Luck all the Way up to Haugesund or Bergen. Both times i hitchhiked from there i got a ride within 30-40 min. If you‘re coming from Stavanger it makes sense to take the Bus to out there.―Anonymous

it's a tough one cause there's still a lot of local traffic, but a lot of cars passing by and def a good spot for cars to stop safely.―Anonymous

Ask people on the ferry, or cars that are queuing. Tried this twice and it worked fine―Anonymous

This seems like a reasonable spot to go north, but in my experience cars here go too fast and the bus stop which could be a could place for cars to stop is behind a small curve so not very visible. Wasted 30 mins here, then decided to walk a bit further north... less than 5 mins walking there's another and much better spot still at the bus stop.―Anonymous

if you just got off the ferry and you were too shy to ask directly on the ferry, rush out and try to hitch the cars getting off the ferry. It doesn't look like a great spot because car will be in a rush to get out and won't easily stop, but still they go not fast and they see you. We got a lift to Preikestolen area from here quite easily, but I recommend trying to talk with drivers in advance, while getting on the ferry, or just before getting off. In case you're not lucky with cars getting off your ferry, just walk along the road 'till it meets with a more busy road and try to hitch any car. As a side note, in this more rural area it seemed easier to get lifts compared to the main roads along coastline and nearby cities.―Anonymous
