Two people asking to be brought to A1, most people that would answer us said they were going into gliwice
We were about to give up when a guy going to Bytom took us to A1. I wouldnt recommend, there's probably better spots where you dont get so stuck

Pretty good spot, a lot of people going south. not much traffic into chechia itself, but you can get closer to the border.

One of the best places to hitchhike near Katowice. We planned to go in the direction of Ostrava in the further Budapest and we managed to catch the driver to Vienna. Overall, a great place to catch a foot in the direction of Wroclaw, Berlin, Vienna. It is worth going to the parking lot and asking people where they are going - a lot of individual drivers and trucks.

I don't know why, but for a very long time people didn't want to stop - we headed towards Rybnik -> Ostrava

If you got here, just draw a sign with pictogram of a gas station and try to get to the next petrol station which is 25 km away on A1

If you want to go out of Gliwice you can try to get here lift to kozłów McDonald's (then we go on the West - Wrocław)

It was working well where the toll gates worked. Now don't go there, because cars just pass it through

There is a park lot allowing drivers to stop easily.
never more than 30 min to get a lift Wrocław or Kraków

Lots of traffic inbound Katowice; if You are headed inbound Opole the best is to take even a driver who goes inbound Katowice and get dropped at the petrol station 10 km before Katowice and cross on the other side of the highway to finally find a driver inbound Opole, Wrocław. If You have questions please use the "Contact Me" section on my website www.claudioadrianodobre.com to get in touch with me. Hit the road hard ;)

It isn't hard to find some car driving to direction of Krakow, but much less to Wroclaw. I strongly advice using the carton sign.

I waited seven freezing hours at the toll both for a ride to Krakow. I was dropped around 10pm, so perhaps in daylight I would have fared better.

3rd car stopped and took me to Wroclaw :)

When going to Cracow from Wroclaw it's the last decent place to hitch, because you need to avoid Katowice. Next is tollbooth.
