Idk what was our luck but we tried with a sign Ostrow or just thumb but we waited until somebody picked us up that was going further than just closest turn off to industrial districts. Busy spot but very easy for a car to stop. I got a short ride to a very inconvenient village - Troyan. I feel like I should have waited longer for someone going a longer distance. Ended up having to stitch my journey from multiple 5-10km rides from bad spots in small places.―alice

Most traffic is local. I was advised to stand on the highway instead of the gas station. Eventually I was offered a ride by someone who wasn't even planning to go to Warsaw, just decided to help me since I was there for a long time.―alice

Very good spot now due to the increased controls on Polish side, so the cars are slow or even stay in line, so you can really make an impression on the drivers. Got taken by two Ukranianians going to Wroclaw.Extra note: The police asked us for passports too, IDs were not enough even though we are EU citizens.
