When heading South of Lisbon or towards Spain. Take the train to Foros de Amora and then cross under the highway to get at this gas station. Here you can ask people to take you.―Anonymous

Drivers going here are probably headed to Lisbon city or to Caparica beaches. At this place cars are going slow. Cars will stop for you only, and having a cardboard with your destination can make it easier.―Anonymous

Arrived 20.12.2017, not a lot traffic and a lot of them head south. Try from here hitchhiking to A6, 1 hour asking and waiting a local took me to the next station before Setubal and I got stuck there. Only go on a ride when you actually head to A6.The fence is not a problem you can climb the wall right after the tunnel from train station.
Generally it's not the best but does work to hitch to east or south

So partly I was unlucky because 1 minute after I arrived (alone, female) one other hitchhiker came and then two more (a couple)! Also it took a while to find a way around the extensive fencing which surrounds this place. They've mended a bunch of holes that were made. Bring cutters or just after you pass under the highway (from the train station) climb up the wall and around the end of the fence. The 3 others who were there took the best hitching spot (all wanted to socialise and smoke weed?!?) so I took a different strategy: asking people directly "vais para sul?" ("Going south?") Some people were nice but there are a lot of families and also assholes coming through this place. I found out it's the most expensive place to buy petrol. So maybe we should all seek a better hitching spot next time. It costs €4,50 to arrive by metro/train from Lisbon centre. I waited for 4 hours and was finally was picked up by a nice local lady who offered to take me to a train station. I took it because I was sun burnt and had a deadline to arrive at my destination. The other 3 people were still waiting. Definitely not a top HH experience here.―Avocadocity

i also had to wait there 6 hours, and sleep there, and next day more 6 hours. I asked a ride from everybody who arrived, but some of them went just to Setúbal, others fraid of us. Two guys in 2010.―Anonymous

Well, I was unable to find an easy way to get in, so had to walk around to Western side, climb a fence, enter a highway and RUN 150 m as fast as I can.Hitchability is rather poor, I was going in a direction of Spain, but most of the cars are occupied by local families and those who are not doesn't go far. Found a ride to one of the next gas stations in an hour and a half, assume it to be a better option for going Spain despite being a bit deserted.
P.S. reached this station to witness two German guys going south standing with a sign at the exit since morning. Poor boys continued their efforts as I was leaving. Just something to consider.

I waited for longer than 4 hours asking everyone I saw to go to Algarve. Mostly everyone was staying around the area or as furthest they would go to Alentejo. There weren't so many stopping by though. After all the time finally someone picked me up straight to Portimao, but still wasn't that good like others said―Anonymous

Got a ride after 15 minutes to Portimao, pretty easy. You just have to ask people directly while they are refueling. By the way, if you see the gate closed then you just have to ring the bell and the gate will open. Simple as that, you don't have to jump the fence.―Anonymous

waited only one hour there and my portuguese is more or less not existing! just ask the people, someone will take you.to enter, just go through the gate. in my case it was closed and nobody opend, so go 50m back in direction to the trainstation and you'll find a small hole in the fence. tadaaa, there you go!

not the best spot for a ride to spain since most of the drivers heading south to Algarve or Setubal. You need to ask many people until you're like. so far i haven't found a better spot, so it's for the moment probably the best option for direction Badajoz/Spain―Wukk
