Got dropped there by my last driver which wasn’t ideal but the shoulder was big enough for cars to stop. Got a ride in a Moldova registered Porsche all the way to Bucharest, probably gained a whole hour by the outrageous speeds he was going on the national road.―Arphile

Things got much better after I moved here from the spot lower down. I suggest having a sign to Brăila, as people won’t pick you up to help you unless they’re going the entire way (my driver was confused at first where I was going and I had to shout Brăila for him to stop).―Arphile

Not very good as there’s no space to stop. Only had a bus stopping that wanted me to pay.―Arphile

Very good place, a lot of traffic; not a fixed position, you can try to go up and down the street and find the suitable spot depending on where cars are parked, etc. Public transportation has a stop at the crossroad on the left with Str Abatorului/Carantinei, and it's also the place where Maxi Taxi to Galati depart from. Sometimes Maxi Taxi drivers say it's not allowed to hitchhike there (it's not good for their business :) ). Don't mind them and go further on the street. It's not really worth paying from here to Galati, it's easy to find a free ride.―Suman Mircea

we tried this place, after the crossroad there's enough place to stop and quite a bit of traffic..didn't wait for very long and eventually got a ride all the way to Bucharest―Radi

Direction Tecuci and past. Managed to get a ride all the way to Bacău (driver was going to Roman).Tip: Go a bit further down the road to differentiate yourself from the locals. Same goes for having a sign rather than just thumb-up.

Not a great place for hitchhiking as vehicles are allowed to go at 70km/h legally (meaning they go faster than that). There is enough stopping space. After 35 minutes a friendly local commuter stopped and told me it's not the best place to hitchhike, and took me to a better one down the road.

Good spot for getting to Galati, however, make sure to ask the driver for the cost (the Maxi Taxi is 4,50 lei, so you should pay less than this!)―Anonymous

This a spot where you can hitchhike towards Slobozia, etc., you can get here even with public transportation that goes to the commercial center on the other side of the road. I have not personally tried it so I can't vouch for it and rate it very good, but it has all the reasons to be good.―Anonymous

This is a good place to hitchhike through Braila. If you try to go to Galati but you find a car that only goes to Braila you can ask the driver if he can take you to the exit towards Galati. If he can't, it's better to ask him to leave you here than in some area of the city. The maps are not updated unfortunately (not even google), there is a big commercial center on the right side, since 2008 (you can buy stuff for your trip if you need anything, or you can stop for a movie and a coffee).
To hitchhike through Braila you can stay with your sign just after the roundabout, there is a small bus station right there and cars coming slowly from the roundabout have time and space to stop. Sometimes nice people from Braila will stop and take you to the exit towards Galati, or you can find a direct ride :)
There is also public transportation from here to Braila city center and sometimes to Galati.

direction Brailla - the longer way - we were hoping to get further ride there but eventually got a ride just to Brailla. there's shorter way along the water where is more traffic to Brailla as we were told but haven't tried this way...you will have to compete with lot of locals here, we stood little further and eventually it worked out:)―Anonymous
