One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, an autumn like day, chilly with on-and-off rain. On my way from Suceava to Reghin (successful). That day it was going slowly. It took me nearly 5 hours and 6 rides to go the first 100 kms.
After nearly half an hour walk I've found this place. In front of a car wash, some space to pull over, decent visibility, raining. Again a short waiting (4 minutes), and again a short ride to the next village.

It took me nearly 5 hours and 6 rides to go the first 100 kms. To avoid another long walk to an end of a town, I got off the main road and I came with my previous driver here. It was a good decision. Not only I visited the monastey, but also after a few minutes walk I was at the edge of the village hitchhiking. It took me only 2 minutes to get a ride, despite the fact it was raining and there was no space to stop (but the traffic was very quiet). I also got a bottle of wine (the driver belonged to non drinking church and he got it as a present). But once again it was a short ride to the next village 🙄

In 5 minuts I got a ride. Of course only to the next village. Again 🙄 (That day it took me nearly 5 hours and 6 rides to go 100 kms). In the end, to avoid the walk in Vama and most likely in Campulung, I decided to by bypass those places and I went with the driver to Vatra Moldoviței. Which was a very good decision. Plus I visited the monaster.

Great spot to Moldova. Many locals from all backgrounds travel together here in busses. Russians, Romanians, Moldovans and Ukrainiansm Don't bother using a sign, it's expected to talk to people who park there for several reasons. They are very willing to help you find a ride. Use Google translate if you don't speak the language. You will need a passport to enter Moldova and be prepared to wait at the border, but it is truly worth it. A friend and I waited for 90 minutes, most buses were full but we got great help. At the end a Moldovan tour bus took us with them through northern Moldova all the way to Chisinau, for free without any problems.―Luca
