I was immediately picked up by a lovely Hungarian lady from Cluj, she offered to house me and took me to the Hungarian celebration of világítás, as well as setting me up with a bunch of people who helped me a lot during my travels across Transylvania―Arphile

Got dropped off there on my way to Oradea, decided to keep hitchhiking into the city and I was picked up pretty much immediately. Huge runoff so cars can stop easily―Arphile

Cars are going a bit fast but they have to slow down for the traffic lights anyway, good for going north in direction Oradea―Arphile

A local took me here and said that it’s a great spot. A Polish truck stopped and gave me a ride to the Romanian border.―anettlee17

Lots of locals not going further also a lot of local hitchhikers but drivers want money but I got lucky and met a nice local and they couldn’t drive me so they paid for my bus so not exactly hitchhiking but I got free transportation from having my thumb out hahaOver all don’t get stuck here

Amazing spot, there was enough space to stop and everyone going to Beius/Stei/Deva is going your way. There was construction works though so maybe the space to stop doesn't stay long. If you're getting here from town, you can take the bus 511 at least one stop longer than Google maps is proposing, the bus passed by us after we got off and started walking which was a bit annoying.―princessescharming

Amazing spot to go east! We met two guys there who wanted to go to Cluj, they were gone within 20 minutes. Then we waited for another 20 and had a direct ride to Oradea―princessescharming

Nice spot. Lots of trucks which are going slow because of the border and everybody waves at you at least. Guy took me to Bratislava―Anonymous

I share the opinion of Incogitatus. Tried it there with a sign, met there a romanian student, who wanted to go in the same direction. At least one big car stopped, but he wanted to have nearly the same money as a bus would had cost. So, there are some so called "sharks" who want to make money. But at least, 20 Lei for Oradea -> Cluj is still payable.―Erlendur

Tried it again this year, already in the dark, in 2 mins got a direct ride to Cluj in a van that was going from Germany – the most important thing is just to explain you won't pay ("nu am bani") at the very beginning of the contact. The driver was, like "yeah, duh, of course you won't pay" :)―Tomasmarc

I must disagree with the former comments. We stood at this place, right in the city centre, at 9 PM in the evening, two guys with big backpacks. At least it's cool to see many people hitch-hiking, even for money. One driver didn't take us because he wanted money, another one was the "shark" that offered a ride to a festival by Cluj for 150 lei (boy, was that hilarious). And, after 15-20 minutes wait, a sportsy BMW stopped, the driver was a tatoo artist who spoke English and bought us dinner in the roadside restaurant. It might be just wild luck, but the spot is definitely not too bad, if you don't mind laughing at some "sharks" :)―Tomasmarc

I didn't find this spot very attractive for the "adventurous" hitchhiker. At all hours of the day, there exists a multitude of local hitchhikers trying to get a lift any (some 5km, some 50km) distance, and they all have money ready for the driver. Most of these people are locals coming or going to work or women with shopping bags. No cars stopped for me when I had a sign out .... and it seems that there are "organized" rides in some sketchy manner to get a few extra bucks for illegal "taxis." I'd avoid this spot. It's better to take a bus to the farthest "Metro Cash and Carry" market and hitch from there.―Incogitatus

I used this spot many times, once I was really luck, getting a ride on Sunday night around 23:00. There disadvantage is that there are some people offering rides for money, don't accept them.―Krisztian

In front of the train station you can take bus number 11 until transilvaniei, the spot is just in from of Lidl ! I hh there with a friend ( 1 girl 1 boy) and we waited 30 minutes to find a ride to Satu Mare.―Juaum

It's very likely that the driver will wait until he get he's car full of hitchhikers. So don't put youre bags inside his car even if he asking for. Because there is may be another car that is going sooner becuase he's needing fewer peoples to fill up his car. And it's good idea to have Romanian Lei instead of Euro. End and in small banknotes. And to make ready the amount of money you want to give to driver in you're pocket, so he don't see how much money you have in all

It is a good spot if you are going from Cluj to Hungary and the driver takes you only to Oradea. Ask the driver to leace you at the Oradea city sign, where the road gets broader. Here you can hitch the many cars that go towards Hungary with a HU sign, and save the time getting to the other edge of the city.―Anonymous

It's a good place to get to Oradea, but not to Cluj - I'd advice getting to Oradea first, if you're going to Cluj.―Tomasmarc
