One male 40+, one big backpack, a cloudy evening. On my way from Valea Drăganului to Crucișor, about 180 kms (successful).
A very nice spot. A big gravel bay with loads of space to stop. Good visibility. No shade. Cars go slowly.
It was about the sunset. So my hopes were low.
After 5 minutes one Gipsy stopped and offered me 18 kms ride for 50 euros. I passed his "kind" offer. 3 minutes later I got that ride the normal way (free) from another guy.

This place looks awesome. It's a spot where two lanes road became a single one. There is a very big, tarmac bay, where a lorry can easly stop. Gorgeous visibility. No shade. A quiet, evening traffic. Cars go slowly.
But it took me over one hour to get a ride. Probably coz it was a bit late in the evening. Plus there was a big junction after. Maybe having a sign could help here.
The guy who picked me was superb kind. He was trying to give me some money 😁 I didn't accept it. But to keep him happy I agreed to take a juice. He dropped me at the end of a town, which saved me a walk. Crucial thing, coz I wax running out of time (a sunset soon).

The previous driver thought he was going to Satu Mare, but his navigation let him here. 10 kms before the city. And he dropped me in the middle of an express way with no space to walk. For a kilometer I had to walk through fields until I reached this village. Quickly I've found a good place. A gravel bay before a bus stop. Good visibility. No shade. I got lucky, coz after a minute I got a ride to Satu Mare.

One male 40+, one big backpack, a cloudy afternoon. On my way from Valea Drăganului to Crucișor, about 180 kms (successful).
A really good spot. A very big gravel bay. A bus stopped there, even though there were no signs it was a bus stop. A superb good visibility. No shade.
After 10 minutes a guy stopped and he picked me up. He was going to Satu Mare. At least that's what he thought. Coz he finished 10 kms before that city. And he dropped me in a very uncomfortable place.

We were 2 guys. We waited the day before during night unsuccesfuly. A relevant fact could be that shortly before the driver stopped we were joined by 2 women hitchhikers. A truck stopped for us that eventually took the girls, because at the same time another car stopped. Both cars took us all the way to Romania.

The traffic is way smaller than in Oradea - especially if you are looking for a long distance ride. I catch a truck directly to Poland, but I was a girl alone and usually I wait around 5-10min. The gas station just before the border is great for spending the night btw

We were two. One asked, one hitchhiked. 3.9.2016. Lots of foreign licence plates, but romanians inside, unwilling to pick up. Lying to us about not going through border, then when a hungarian nice old guy took us, we've seen every each of them waiting on the border. Cars are usually very full.

From here, I got a truck in 5 min. straight to Poland, where I wanted to go, almost at my destination Rzeszow (Jeshov). It would be a longer trip because they need to stop for 1 hour, but you can pass all hungary and slovakia, (Tokay, entering in Slovakia(Svidnik)

The last petrol station on the right side of the street before the hungarian border. Lots of drivers stop here. Talk to them! Sometimes I get a driver instantly.

Try asking truck drivers, they usualy go through Budapest. I took a ride straight to Bratislava within few tries. <10min

We stood directly on the highway, because there were not many cars at the parking place. A Romanian driver picked us up
