Nice spot, a lot of space and easy accesible by bus from city center. Got ride further south on my way to Serbia

If you get dropped here, that's a good spot for going into Timisoara city

I think it's good that you can have a sign as you are catching traffic going towards many directions. There is some space next to roundebad and also possible on highway entrence itself. Still I think I got quite lucky with getting ride so quick

A nice guy helped us with a few km. He was going to Temesvara. Otherwise no cars going here. We were lucky to try stop him along the way and he did.

We walked along the road and tried with thumb to catch a ride. There is a lot of parking space just next to the door. Plenty of locals, but the rest is going to Temesvara.

Got a ride to Lugoj within 5min. A local was already getting the same ride, when the driver signalled that I could also hop in. Good place and well-known for hitching.

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a cloudy day with some occasional and short drizzles. On my way from Timisoara to Resita (successful).
I got dropped a few hundreds meters north of that spot. I was supposed to walk till the end of the village, but when I saw that place with a flat bay, where even a lorry could squeeze in, I decidedto give it a try. It was a very good decision. After 3 minutes I got another jump towards Resita.

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a cloudy day with some occasional and short drizzles. On my way from Timisoara to Resita (successful).
I got dropped a few hundreds meters north of here and while I was walking I looked for a good spot. First that place looked good, coz it was an end of a double-lane, which means room for cars to stop. But quickly I disliked that place. It was too busy. Cars were coming in waves from the lights nearby and were creating a little traffic jam at the end of the ending lane. There was also a pedestrian crossing. I started thinking about changing a spot, but one car stopped. The lift was only a few kilometres, but I decided to escape this place. I got another short jump in my journey (5 rides in 100 kms).

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a cloudy day with some occasional and short drizzles. On my way from Timisoara to Resita (successful).
The place looks great. Just after a roundabout, so cars go slowly. Very good visibility. Plenty of room to stop even for a lorry (an extra lane going from the roundabout for over a hundred metres).
Fairly busy traffic. Cars tend to come in waves, due to the traffic lights a bit before.
I thought I'd get a lift fairly easy, but I had to wait 35 minutes (not that bad actually). The lift was only 6 kms to the next village. And that's how I started my journey of short jumps towards Resita 😁

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Arad in Timisoara.
Across the road there was a welcome to Arad sign and behind me end of Arad one. It looks like a very good spot. A double lane changes here into a single one. So, the end of the finish lane is a very good place for cars and lorries to stop. A hundred metres before there is a very bumpy railway track and all cars have to slow almost to zero, so they will pass you slowly. Good visibility. One bad thing there is no shade.
After 25 minuts waiting I got a ride to Timisoara.

Got an incredible ride with an old super nice Romanian guy. Once we arrived in Arad he took me to the town hall for a tour, then he showed me around the city, brought me home for lunch and gave me 200 lei

Maybe I was just lucky but a guy with his mom picked me up very quickly with my sign RO. He did make me cross the border on my own, but then he took me all the way to Timișoara

Ĉi tiu loko estas mirinda por Timișoara, la uloj kiuj elektis min ĉi-foje iris al Arad, la ulo donis bieron al sia unu-jara bebo.

Perfect spot with excellent shoulder at the roundabout right in Giarmata. It is located along road "DJ691, about one kilometer west of the local train station (there's a few trains and buses per day from Timi to Giarmata, alternatively you could even thumb your way there from the city). The spot seems to be well frequented, as it's located along the main thoroughfare leading through Timisoara towards the north and motorway A1. Plus, there's plenty of long distance drivers, especially on sundays, heading towards Budapest, Vienna (the two of us manged to hitch a ride there in no time) and beyond.
