Got droped at this border control because local lady said that i only can cross this one on foot? Was crossing the border and asked a car ahead with slovakian plates if they can pick me up and he agreed do got taken straight to Bratislava and even he invited to stay at his apartment for the night and drove me to gas station in the morning. Very nice guy who also hitchhiked in his youth.

A German guy stopped and drove me all the way to the Serbian border. Probably better than anywhere inside Budapest proper

Very good spot after the frontier. To go in Serbia, good space to stop for the cars, and they see you from far away.

A nice place, not so heavy movement (tuesday noon-afternoon), but rather easy to find someone going Belgrade or Novi Sad.

Great spot if you're travelling to Romania, not so great for Serbia. There's a city bus stop 10 minutes walk west the station from where you can get to Szeged and then the next OMV station by bus, which is 3km from the border. A driver told us you can only cross the border on foot on the crossing Horgos 2, but not on the highway one, so be aware of that.

The serbian police will give 30min to get a hike, after this time they advise you to got to the petrolstation 2 km away. You're allowed to walk on the motorway.
(Border in direction to Beograd)

one time a Hungarian border guard asked us to move to a petrol station 1km from the border. not very nice, since it's empty. otherwise a good spot.

the serbian police kicked us out after 2 minutes but we just walked a little towards the gas station and hitched a truck going to Belgrade.

Got a ride all the way to Sofia, Bulgaria from the Serbian side of the border. If you hang out near where the trucks and cars merge after passport control you'll have a much better chance

Waited for 1h in merciless July sun, then went further (1km) ahead until we reached a viaduct - and a shade underneath. From there we catched - after another 30 min. - a hike to Thessaloniki :D
