Wanted to go to Zilina but the 3rd person I asked was going around Trencin so they dropped me off at OMV gas station at D1 in Trencin. From there I got ride to Zilina in less then 5 minutes

There was not a lot of traffic. I was standing with a sign to Bratislava at the exit. But maybe it was better to ask around the gas station. But after an hour got picked to Bratislava

Looks like a good place - enough space, and drivers see you, but I waited longer than 2 hours. If you want to go direction Male Karpaty, it's better to take bus to Pezinok.

It used to be a very good place, nowadays it's little bit worse, but lot of cars are driving that road, also lot of space for a car to stop and it's before the highway to the north of Slovakia (there also use to be lot of hitchhikers).

There was 2 of us, girl and boy. Good spot. Lots of cars and place for tham to stop. We had a big sign.

More locals drivers there since there is a highway. But still possible to get in every main direction in Slovakia.

This is a great place to hitch, primarily becase of the signalized intersection facing you, thus the drivers have good deal of time to mediate upon the idea that taking a hitchhiker might be an interesting idea.

Not ideal for Hungary.
I would recomend petrol station in Jarovce instead.

Bad! Next time I'll do everything to avoid being droped off on this petrol station (it's Slovnaft). All drivers head just to Bratislava's suburbs. Yeah, meybe the trucks could be salvation - they have a parking there. We (a couple) were there in summer, once we headed to Hungary and once To Czech, both times, it was almost a terminal destination. After many hours struggling for life, we always gave up and got rides to the city for a bus or some new inspiration. Once I met there two another trampers, who waited there from the previous day.

A good spot generally, but as I'm hitching in winter at the moment it's not as busy as I would have liked. I knew I would get a ride eventually with my 'Wien' sign. Have some patience and you'll do well.

On Wednesday after 30 minutes waiting I got here a lift to the border between Czech R and Poland. I recommend you to ask truck drivers.
(You can get here by buses 96, 61, bus-stop "Cesta na letisko", then wak to the bridge what is the closest to the petrol station and go under the bridge and climb through the hole in the fence)

I came here to test this place otherwise I would choose the gas station but this worked and I got a ride in less then 30 minutes so works great.

It didn't look like a good spot since few cars passed by,but I guess we were lucky, because we (2 boys) got a lift in about 20 minutes and he took us behind Zvolen.
