Bus stop doesn’t exist anymore, trying to get to Zagreb in the late afternoon. Got a lift after a long time in the sun by the roundavout to the middle of the highway near krsko by a nice old lady who says she will come back in two hours if no one picks me up.―Anonymous

we have just jokingly showed a thumb and nice family stoped us, cheers to them, they brought us to Slovinean borders. Anyway: there is good place for cars to stop, and also they are slowing down because of the vignettes.―Hesnii

croatia joined schengen in 2023 so this border is no longer strictly controlled and cars might be more willing to pick you up. but still, if you can, try get dropped at the service station before this one. we might have been here longer but we got a ride quick enough to zagreb from someone going to bosnia.―Leslie

a lot of german, austrian and hungarian cars here going north and east as well as slovenians going to maribor, less traffic for zagreb but that was maybe the time of the year. very busy spot but in summer mostly families or cars with not enough room for two hitchhikers. we tried first asking for rides to zagreb but got a lift after we put novo mesto on a sign and asked around.―Leslie

Direction : ZagrebAfter the toll or after the border... I waited 4h during big weekend departure for summer hollydays! Zagreb is just 13km after, but people don't want to take you (funny that numerous people on hollydays told me that they have no time to pick me up!).
If you come from Ljubljana, my advice would be that you accept to be picked up only if the driver goes to Zagreb, not just the border.

an only fifty per cent safe (meaning: legal) place to stand at. you are hithiking right on the autobahn even though cars have to slow down to 40 km/h because of the nearby toll-station. it took me 10 minutes to catch a ride to LJUBLJANA from here in march 2010. i expected the police to shop up in any minute - but everything went well. there is also the safer opportunity to stand on the westbound A1 entrance ramp 100 meters north of this spot. i have seen many cars passing by at this place as well. on my personal rating from 1 (poor) to 10 (excellent) i will give this place a 9 to 10 even i consider it "average" because it is not legal to stand here.―Anonymous

stay at the entry of the toll station with a sign; cars go slow; ask drivers directly; good spot―Fra pero

At the border. Slow cars, some of them stop. We were three hitchhikers and got a ride to Ljubljana in 1 hour.―Anonymous

Not a great service station to be picked up from at all but better than nothing. Next to no one wants to take you through the strict border control into Croatia and in the end me and my mate had to settle for a drug baron who drove us to Zagreb at 240kph. On the plus side we were there in 10 minutes.―Anonymous
