Nice station going to Zagreb.Got there from the overpass west of there, then slipped under the bridge and after jumping the fence (1.5m high, pretty accessible) had to go along the rail for 100m or so.
The station can host many trucks but there weren’t that many of them on an early summer Wednesday.
In the end I approached mostly people at the gas station.
Also, the toilets cost 1€ but easy to hide behind a truck.

We asked around with a sign and some people weren't really friendly, but eventually I think there's a good chance you will find a ride.―dundee

Great spot, prefer it to the toll station, cause the station is overwhelming―Tomtom

Good spot! Its at the entry of the highway, but there is enough space to stop. Got a ride after 35 minutes with a man who works in Zagreb but lives in Slovenia. He took me straight to Ljubljana :)―Carl07

Bad spot! Nearly all the cars are croatian and from Zagreb. One car stopped, but they went to maribor and not ljubljana. I changed location after three hours, and got a ride in 40 minutes there.―Carl07

Get prepared to get into the car quickly, and if you go to Zadar or Split you should reject cars going towards Rijeka. Police is there, but didn’t bother us―Inni

Waited 1 hour halfway to Rijeka but it was like 5 in the morning. I think its a good spot, easily reached by bus.―TajineMachine

2 guys with backpacks, we tried the hitchhike spot from the guy from 2013 and it still kinda works. High traffic, drivers have nice place to stop, but very very low success rate. Waited 135 minutes until we got a ride to Zagreb. Got 2 signs: "Zagreb" and "highway".Got there by bus from Zadar from the main bus station. It was bus number 4 but these things change over time. Just get to the main bus station and I strongly believe you will manage.
Long wait but got all the way to Zagreb

There’s a good spot behind the highway entrance barriers; drivers haven’t had time to pick up speed yet, which allows them to pull over. For safety, I recommend standing behind or on the guardrails on the shoulder.I was traveling alone, male

Mostly fully packed family cars going on holidays. We were two men (czech.asian and ukrainian) hitchhiking to Rijeka. The beat way to get a ride was to cold approach drivers stopping at the petrol station. There a lot of traffic tho.―Czechmate

We took a train ride from Graz as we didn’t feel like hitchhiking from the city. There is a plenty of space in surrounding area to camp as well. We got to this petrol station around 10am. There was already a lot of traffic mostly fully packed family cars. We cold approached drivers and got a ride all the way to Zagreb.―Czechmate
