As other user said, don't ask ppl around McDonald's (they all go to Austria). Go all the way to the end where is the exit to highway and stand with sign. Got a ride to Zagreb quite quick.―viki99

The traffic was not terrible, but nothing too crazy either. Took me almost 4 hours to find a ride, but once I did, I got taken all the way to my target for the day (Vienna).―klawik

Not really a hitchhiking spot. I got dropped off here by my driver from Ljubljana. She then called her brother, who lives in Maribor and has experience hitchhiking, to take me to a good hitchhiking spot.―klawik

Good place to go towards Maribor. It is a bus stop so there is a lot of space to pull over. Cars are not going fast because it's right after a roundabout.―klawik

Bad spot- not sure if they have changed the road or done construction, but there is no place for cars to stop. Also a blue sign marking the start of highway, which is technically illegal for you to stand behind.―Anonymous

Not so many cars, but high possibility they go to Ljubljana or that direction. We wrote a sign “LJ”. Be careful, in Slovenia the license plates are not always as they are. Nice and helpful people around.―TwoThumbsTravel

A lot of people from Slovenia work in Austria. We (2) asked a guy with a Slovenian license plate and took us directly to gas station next to Maribor which was good spot for our next ride to Ljubljana.―TwoThumbsTravel

many tourists coming from Austria, Germany, with no Space, a Ukrainian dad with his children picked both of us up (m/22) we definitely recommend trying in the morning till afternoon, we waited 3hrs from 18:30 - 21:30 the day before and slept in the woods nearby, the next day it took us 25min to get picked up―just2chillguys

It looks as good spot to try to hitchhike someone, but it is not. Everyone goes on vacation, so they have got full car or goes only to Maribor. We tried it there for like 6 hours with sign "Ljubljana", but nobody stopped. Good thing about it is a Field behind the gas station for a night in a tent. It is better to ask people then Wait. And maybe ask people with the same nationality. :)―RicoHard

A good spot towards Graz, Murska Sobota and Hungary direction. It would be better to hh in the traffic circle a few km north, but unfortunatly it's not. Best to hold a sign here.―Anonymous

The only question is which service station is best out of three to continue towards Vienna, Linz/Salburg or Ljubljana or Zagreb. Service station Gralla in Austria, the Slovenian station 1 km south of the border or the Slovenian station north of Maribor on the A1... that truly is the only question... who wants to test them all ten times in both directions? ;)(and then, once we find out, and all five zillion hitch-hikers know about it, which will then automatically make the best service stations into worst, due to reasons of lots and lots of competing hitch-hikers... (wait, another five cars with more hitch-hikers are just driving into the station, while I'm writing...) ;)
