spot is ok, with no sign it is a bit unclear in which direction you want go, more traffic towards bilbao than amorebieta. very low trafficlocal driver said there is more traffic at this roundabout than at the one at lezama station

Spot is visible to westward cars coming onto the highway and the gas station. However, cars coming onto the highway are often accelerating, and on the lookout for cars merging in. They might not be able to notice you, and even if they do it is hard to stop in time.There is a crash barrier which can make you less visible too though it does make you much safer.
To get from our normal pedestrian roads to the gas station, there is a side road behind the toll booth office that is not monitored.
This day was just before the eclipse in Spain so there were more foreign plates. But the traffic was a bit slower than some other highways I've been to.
The man who picked me up was a Lithuanian driving to Oviedo, and there's no reason to believe that people would only be doing short hops here.

The spot is good, you can see drivers from both roads and they are driving slow. It's still before the highway sign (so legal). Anyway we tried twice before success. In the end we removed all signes and got a driver who was willing to drive us to the next gas station on A-8.―Ellaella

Good spot, easy to find a ride to Donaostia and France. PErfect to reach: From the bus terminal take a bus to Leteiko and get off at "Boroa". Jsut walk some 50 meters on, cross the national road over the bridge and in roundabout turn left to climb down over the broken fence.―Poebbels

I'd say if you are lucky you could catch a ride very quickly in the direction of Donostia. There are a lot of cars going to France or to Germany. I was waiting for 30-40min and then took a ride directly to Donostia.―Mochilero

I was not very lucky with this place.Make sure you know the timetable of the bus ( I had to wait 1.5h for the next bus going there) and you are at the BUS TERMINAL (not the Central Station)...
Once you made it to the gas station (well accessible from bus station BOROA) you should be able to catch a ride to San Sebastian.
I planned to get to Bordeaux but only made it to San Sebastian from where I hadto take the train...

The best place to hh to Bilbao, is little town, but always is going a lot of people there, or maybe at least to Mungia. Nice visibility and a lot of place to stop cars―Anonymous
