Toll station. Go there with a sign. Stand on the side corner of the right lane to be visible for the people going to Donostia. Good spot.

After one hour someone took me to Eibar Train Station. Decent spot but from the metro its quite a walk. With the Bus its quicker but you have to pay

I arrived there with the bus A3515, I then asked around and the first car I asked took me to France!! 🇫🇷

The spot is good, you can see drivers from both roads and they are driving slow. It's still before the highway sign (so legal). Anyway we tried twice before success. In the end we removed all signes and got a driver who was willing to drive us to the next gas station on A-8.

There is a stop Light, where cars nee to stop, so you can throw your thumb out and walk along the cars to wait for a positive reaction. Just by the stoplight is also a big paper bin, where you can take some cardboard from to make a sign. I Made one direction León, (Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Burgos). After around 10 Stoplight phases a guy took me to Arrasate/Mondragon near Vitoria.

I'd say if you are lucky you could catch a ride very quickly in the direction of Donostia. There are a lot of cars going to France or to Germany. I was waiting for 30-40min and then took a ride directly to Donostia.

Good spot, easy to find a ride to Donaostia and France. PErfect to reach: From the bus terminal take a bus to Leteiko and get off at "Boroa". Jsut walk some 50 meters on, cross the national road over the bridge and in roundabout turn left to climb down over the broken fence.

It¨s still working. Getting out of Bilbao its very good to get to that station near Amorebieta. I waited 10 Minutes the last time.

I was not very lucky with this place.
Make sure you know the timetable of the bus ( I had to wait 1.5h for the next bus going there) and you are at the BUS TERMINAL (not the Central Station)...

Once you made it to the gas station (well accessible from bus station BOROA) you should be able to catch a ride to San Sebastian.

I planned to get to Bordeaux but only made it to San Sebastian from where I hadto take the train...

getting out of Bilbao is so f hard. we tried a different spot for an hour where a man told us to go 30 minutes to somewhere else (here). we waited 3 hours and eventually got a ride to the nearest gas station. we almost took a bus to San Sebastian instead.
i would completely avoid Bilbao if i were you.
