i ended up here after a disastrous series of tiny lifts out of barca
the station is massive, loads of trucks (who all told me they couldn't take me with them), gas station where you can ask people, supermarket and apparently showers too
i didnt have time to explore, cus i soon found a lucky lift to madrid, despite i was aim soley to lleida. lucky day for me
some peeps where going to barcelona too, so im sure you can find for both directions

You don't have to walk on the highway to reach it! just go through the industrial zone at the back. I got really lucky, the first car I asked went directly to Lleida (Catalunya)

We were 2 (girl and boy), the girl spoke spanish, so we asked the drivers. We headed to Cuenca. Our driver was third driver we asked and took us to Tarancón.

Petrol station, Galp. It can be access from the highway Madrid to Zaragoza. It has few traffic, but Its best I found out of the city and that could be reach by public transport+on foot.

To get here, take a cercanías (metropolitan train) from Atocha, in direction to Alcalá de Henares/Guadalajara. Jump off at Alcalá de Henares, from then take the bus 9 (frecuency:30minutes) and ask the driver to tell you to jump off before passing over the higway. From there, 10 minutes walking.

Otherwise, go on foot from Alcalá de Henares train station, is 30 minutes on foot.

The petrol station is in a industrial State, so better use it on weekdays, there will be more activity. Ask the drivers to drop you on the next petrol station, even if they dont go a lot further.

Small petrol station on way to Valencia or Cuenca. Cars heading this direction stops there.
Really easy-reachable by metro, you just have to pay 2 euros by the exit because it is outter zone.

We catch a transport in over 2 hours, sometimes trucks drive this way and this is the best way to get out from this town.

Industrial place with few traffic but I did manage to get a car for a next station tho.
Practical as you can easily get there with Cercanias

Mainly just locals, who are not going far. After 30 min got a ride to next spot, few km out of Madrid.

Good for direction to Madrid. You can just wait at the entrance of highway or try to ask people at the gas station.

You need to be lucky, because a lot of driver are just locals and go to get the gas. Best strategy is to combine hitching at the entrance and when a good car with place stops there, go and ask. Good luck!
