Sunday morning, solo female, sign for E4/north, on the entrance to the gas station. Not many people stop for gas, but all the cars that go through the road can stop. Got a ride inmediately, Belgian campervan, to Sundsvall.―friki

Got a ride all the way to Gävle very luckily. Using a sign, solo female. There's no place to stop on the sides just the give way of the roundabout, which isn't ideal. I did get a tour of somebody's farm, to pet some horses, watch them jumping over fences, picking up children and a final ride to exactly my destination.―friki

Didn't spend the full five hours here, walked a little north and tried the busstop as well, but seemed too chaotic. Double lane and no clear direction made the busstop not ideal, so asking around it was. Mostly people going to their job or locals getting fuel, but after a while, someone actually went to Gälve ánd didn't mind taking me.―KRooijackers

Wasn't even asking around, older man just stopped as he noticed my flag and hitchhiked before. I kept my options – Umeå, Västerås and Uppsala – open, but couldn't reject this offer with my nearly dead battery and a place to stay in Uppsala too. Man used to be a hitchhiker, so he knew what it meant.―KRooijackers

Got here late in the night. A lady denied me a ride but offered 20euros instead :D I denied them went to sleep in nearby forest. Morning I was asking around for about an hour. Quite many locals. Than moved to thumb on the on ramp. After 10min i got a ride to STHLM.―BanautaVanuaLat

Friday evening, summer. This spot is recomended on hitchwiki as a good option for rides south. I´d say it a really bad spot. There is a self-service gas station and a restaurant. It is located in direction towards north- no point for driver heading south to stop here. I got there only because my driver had his destination here. So I took a chance. Instead of asking people I thumbed next to the road at a crossroad. Very dangerous spot! Speed limit 80km/h, barely no space to pulling over, difficult for drivers to read your sign. Good visibility at least. However I got a ride in just 5min. Crazy girl took me to Gävle. Never again!―BanautaVanuaLat

Trying to get 'north'. Took about one hour. Finally a truckdriver was willing to take us. He only had one seat - but a lot of extra space - so we both fitted. Got a ride until the end of his working day aka Härnösand.―Evelyne

Late in the evening got a ride from a driver speaking just Swedish and only later we figured out he was turning in a few km later. We walked back to the station, but with no more success in hitching, so we camped in the nearby woods. The following day we got a direct ride to Umea.―Ewelinalucy

We were there before the sunset (August 2014). From the gas station it´s also possible to take another road leading to the city, besides the highway entrance. Lot of traffic was local but eventually we were offered a ride to Uppsala.―Ewelinalucy

perfect spot for E4 south. You can stand right by the exit towards Stockholm and cars have lots of space to see you and pick you up. Very convenient cause you can also go and ask drivers directly at the gas station.―Basek
