There is a small lane to pullover. If you find yourself here, You will only see local traffic.
Or cars going to Biel.
Take a ride with one of those cars. Go to the gas station "Grauholz" in Ittigen, It is the biggest rest stop / "raststätte".
From there you can Hitchike to Basel,Biel and Zürich easily.
If you cross the autobahn, which is possible by walking the overhead bridge.
You can go south (Fribourg, Lausanne...) from the otherside easily.

Not perfect for stopping cars, but there is space. You can also ask at the gas station.―Stevenheinen

Lots of people going to Switzerland. Quite a few to France, too.―Stevenheinen

Great spot, lots of traffic, easy to approach people filling up at the gas station. A lot of cars go further ahead to the shopping though so if you are two people splitting up is an advantage. Getting off here is probably the best option even if you lift can take you all the way to lausanne.―Frederik

Not a lot of space to stop but it works. I got a ride to Basel. Recommend to us a sign as it goes direction to Lausanne, Fribourg and Basel.―Anonymous

It is very good spot on working days to go direction to Geneva or Lausanne. However on Saturday I was waiting for 3 hours any car to this direction and it never came. 4 cars stoped for me and were ready to take me to the mountains, but I skipped it hoping to get direct ar to Geneva. Then two guys approached me and offered a ride to Mont Blanc and I couldn't resist :)―estasbien

Not so many cars stops here, but it is possible to get a ride by asking people on a parking. I got a ride to a petrol station next to Bern, but you can ask people to bring you to a next petrol station in Prateln on A2/A3.―estasbien

Waited quite long, tried asking people around for a lift to Basel/Bern. There are swiss cars passing by, but I was offered to go to North mostly (even to Belgium). Despite the wait, it's a good spot to get a ride in many directions. (Cars mostly from D & F, but also many I, NL, B, CH, occasionaly even S, L, UK. Probably good to have a sign.If you are going south and get offered a ride only to Mullhouse it's probably better to reject the offer and wait for longer ride, since there are not such places like this one to wait at.

I was just hacking in the early morning from 6:25 and 3 cars stopped two of them going north but one going south where I needed. I really recommend this spot―jkoupy

From outside the trainstation, walk right, at the roundabout right to the underpass, then keep straight on until you reach the main road "Bernstrasse". Turn left. On the right side you see a gas station, right before the highway to Bern begins.―Anonymous
